gene mayday who had little caesars he was a classic bookmaker. he let us have any odds we wanted on mitch blood green over trevor berbick and we still lost. i believe he passed away a few years back.

Yes, Gene passed away a few years back.

I was a semi-regular there for years and knew all the sportsbook rats there on both sides of the counter..................with Montana Mel probably being the most recognizable of the group.

Not good with nicknames, but guarantee you I knew him if he was any kind of regular there.

Probably stepped foot in there 5 days a week for a good 8-10 year stretch.

fish, got one more for you. do you remember herbie hoops lambeck? was the boxing oddsmaker at the old downtown leeroys. a while back i posted about him and some remembered him but i am still wondering if he is still alive and if he stayed in vegas or moved back to jersey.

Herbie Hoops

I think Arne Lang mentioned that he died a couple years ago but not 100% on this. I used to follow him and Lee Pete's sidekick Donny Bader in the 80s.

Montana Mel reminded me of Steven King at the old Santa Anita book next to the DI where Steve Wynns new place is now built on.

i remember the comedian shecky greene betting both hands on horses every day back in the mid to late 70's. i believe those were the days at the rose bowl book and they would send the limo for him.
