back in '96 or '97 (my rookie years), called the $10 pick lines a couple times, never bought anything from one of those salesmen that call you right before kickoff with their "game of the century", thank God. Had to change my freaking phone number once I was smart enough to realize my name and number was getting sold all over the place.

I still get all the football previews and rotation books thru the mail with my name misspelled on them.

Yes! I subscribe to ALL of The Gold Sheet publications and have since 1967. I am re reading Mort Olshan's Winning Theories of Sports Handicapping for about the 30 th time since 1973 when it was first published. ALL of the Gold Sheet publications combined is way ahead of anything else that is on the market. If you subscribe, tell Gary Olshan that Coach LT recommended them to you. LT

First time I went to a race track I bought one of those tip sheets for $1 on the way in. On the way out, I noticed the guy who was selling them had left the unsold ones (there were like 5 different color varieties) so I checked them out and noticed between the 5, they had picked almost every single horse in every single race all in different order - so basically no matter which one you bought there would be a couple winners on it.

Things that make ya go hmmmm.....?

I almost bought some tout service when they called once (don't worry, this was 6 or 7 years ago), but fortunately when they tried to put the charged thru on my card, my bank declined it to make sure it wasn't fraud. Gave me enough time to change my mind.

Wouldn't even think about it nowadays. There are some newsletters, that I don't consider tout services, that might be worthwhile.

I had a very good basketball season in the early 90's thanks to the late Bob McCune, he dealt with a limited clientele one on one by telephone. I also buy the Gold Sheet and some of their other sheets but for the information (trends, streaks and just lots of hard to find data). I do not pay for their picks.

i was surrounded by ads for touts in the boston herald much like beethoven was surrounded by music ;) , and it tempted me to call around

out of all the free score phones his sounded the best, he drew me in.

hed say stuff like "dont worry about losing that cover on that ainge layup last night boys and girls, hes a dick like that. and it doesn matter becuase tonight i have the dead nuts stone cold play another inside info winner that i decided to make at the last second my pattened maverick monster, but first. ." and he had the best voice and delivery. i loved it.

you dont really see the 2 pages of ads for touts int he local paper anymore. there must have been 30 ads a day back then. now you MIGHT see one.

I've been using Casinoman for years.... I just fade him during FB season. If fact, I might send him the money he's asking for just to keep him posting in the RR for awhile. :)

I bought into JR Miller's service for one month. He writes a good story about how there are ups and downs in betting so don't judge him on one week's picks and how he posts his picks on his web site every day (which he does accurately). This was in July of 2003.

Then he sends me his pick for Green Bay's first exhibition game and tells how well they do at home. Well, it turned out to be the Hall of Fame game in Canton, OH. By the time I received the second email telling me to not bet because the information was wrong I had already bet.

i enjoy their write ups . dont really use their picks. although i should have for nba. they went on a couple of nice runs.

i really like it for baseball..

well worth the 150 bucks a year.

Yeah started with Mike Warren 25 years ago or so and made the rounds with touts until about 10 years ago. Only one I made consistent money with was Kevin Karr in college hoops back in the late 80's. He was money and I lived large for a while there.
