i know both is the best ,but i know guys that sit and cap games for hrs and it seems like you get one phone call w/ good info , do no homework and the gm hits. the capper puts in hrs of work and loses. so whats better to have in the long run?

If a game takes hours to cap then it's probably not a good bet. This isn't rocket science and no amount of "homework" is going to suddenly hit you with a winner. The most important homework is line watching and shopping.

Depends on how good your 'info' is. Handicapping is mostly relying on things that have already happened to try to predict what is about to happen.

I have seen plenty of supposedly 'good info' be wrong though

I would think the best assests would be self discipline and patience.

Trust me on on this one. INFO is the BEST CAPPING tool one can have. If everything went according to what it says on paper there wouldn't be gambling! I'm not saying just inside info but maybe following a guy who has inside info. Believe me I'm sure some games are fixed but it helps to no whos sick, whos slightly hurt, Who missed shoot arounds and isn't playing the first half and so on. INFO RULES!! Also LATE money movement is essential to good capping too.

IMO a good capper is an information seeker. Natrually much depends on how you define information. I cap baseball based on pitching and hitting history of the principals players in any given game, especially lefty/righty home/away stats. Inside information is another story and can tend to be risky at best. To answer your question I believe it's more advantage to be a very good handicapper than depend on information from others (good or bad). Axcess to last minute injuries, wise guy moves, players with personal problems and other info that flies around the internet doesn't hurt to have but good solid handicapping and money management is where the money is if you want to gamble. Arbitrage, scalping or middeling are a different matter.

I'll take a 10 minutes heads up that Shaq is out with a tender ankle rather than a 53% winner any day of the week!

Info is my choice
