IMO a good capper is an information seeker. Natrually much depends on how you define information. I cap baseball based on pitching and hitting history of the principals players in any given game, especially lefty/righty home/away stats. Inside information is another story and can tend to be risky at best. To answer your question I believe it's more advantage to be a very good handicapper than depend on information from others (good or bad). Axcess to last minute injuries, wise guy moves, players with personal problems and other info that flies around the internet doesn't hurt to have but good solid handicapping and money management is where the money is if you want to gamble. Arbitrage, scalping or middeling are a different matter.
