Of course this is not meant as an attack on the pope , but think of this scenario. If the pope was on a feeding tube , do you think the powers that be would be so insistent on pulling the plug as they did with Terry Schiavo?
Just think about it and voice your opinion.
Thank You.
Assume all circumstances were the same.

If those with proper decision-making power decided that was the thing to do then it wouldn't be an issue, as it should not have been here.

i think they should have at least had her die in a more humane way.

convicted serial killers and child rapist/murderers get a more humane death.

does that seem right?

i dont think so.

I agree. But as long as the christian conservatives control the strings that will never be allowed to happen.

Then again, there is ample evidence to believe that she did not suffer because she had no brain function.

nobody but her will ever know if she suffered.

I suppose, by definition, it's hard to argue with that. That's why I said "there is ample evidence". Very little in medicine is 100%.

it is kind of ironic isn't it? the pope and terry schaivo both need a feeding tube to live in the news at the same time. one is left to starve to death and the other gets the best medical care available.

If the Pope was incerebrate there would be a constitutional dilemma relating to the papal succession and the running of church affairs over the years while the Pope was incapable.

This is the central question and not the feeding tube. I suspect the Vatican Secretary would move to convene the College of Cardinals and declare the Pope abdicated due inabilty to communicate with God and his people and he would be replaced by the traditional vote. The incerebrate former Pope would then likely spend his remaining years in the care of the Vatican.

Ever been to an emergency room? If you have co-pay insuarnce, good luck. If you have full coverage or on welfare, come on in. If the hospital thinks they have to fight to collect their money, you are screwed.
