Baseball can be the most profitable endeavor for dedicated sports bettors, yet it also requires the largest amount of work and planning. Though baseball might yield more profits, the bettor spends far more time on handicapping this sport than football.

I find baseball the most stat driven sport to cap of all and that does take more time than any other sport save horse racing. Basically I use a checklist for each team, pitcher, and batting order using situational stats (home/away, day/night/ grass/turf etc.) for any game I choose to cap. Some cappers like early season baseball but I usually wait until at least the end of May when the current seasonal stats have a little "meat" on them. Some games I can throw out quickly, others show promise and call for further investigation, it's a fairly complicated process which I will no go into here. Bottom line Wild Bill is right though handicapping baseball is time consuming and to say the least a tedious undertaking.

Some pitchers are fast starters, others slow eg. Bartolo Colon was 6-8 pre all star game and 12-4 post all star game last year. Many pitchers have hot April's and May's others slow, these stats are worth looking at if you want to bet early in the season. The same goes for hitters.

Good luck, wil.
