I never noticed it until this year....is it because the temps are still cool in the evening??

Most teams OPENING GAMES are DAY games........thus the term Opening DAY.

Still the majority of games are at night and really isnt a whole lot different than in August......only slightly.

Also, MLB knows that the NCAA FINAL is tonight at 9pm EST and no way do they want to start a game past 6pm EST.................todays latest start being the 5:10 EST start in Arizona.

Very true, Fish. Baseball was invented as a day sport and remains so. Night games were invented for our own convenience and attendance.

I am sorry for using the "R" word - and NOTHING EL

THIS is BY FAR the #1 for it today. the players even wanna watch the game to see how they will do in their team's bracket pool (and rest assured just about every MLB team - if not all 3 0 - have an ncaa bracket pool). NBA takes the day off for this reason, too (watch the NCAA game and count the number of NBA players from ILL/UNC there - i mean active ones here). and besides - games during the day are usually done in sunlight and warm(er) temps if played outside and nicer weather brings nicer thoughts and these teams all wanna think they can do well this season - even though only about 5-7 teams only are capable of winning the WS

They have had night games going up against the Final game before. This is simply tradition, the idea of opening for a day game. Has nothing to do with the weather or competition. There are some teams that still like to open with night games, teams that don't get good attendance to start with.
