My really smart Catholic friends who study this stuff and are on all the message boards and stuff really do not think the next pope will be from Italy.

So Im looking at a 250 play here on no. at the -128

They cite some cardinals from Spain and some from S America that they feel have a better chance than the couple from Italy being mentioned.

anyone else have a solid informed opinion on this one?

Agreed, I have some very catholic relatives and they think the next pope will be south american to create more unity and diversity among catholics. Too many popes have come from europe.

You are mistaken, the next pope will be American, because the next pope will be me. Pope FROG. Gambling will no longer be immoral. You want to drink and fornicate, have a good time. Meat on Friday, no problem. Oops that one we already have.

Seriously, the last appointment was very political, in an anti-communism hotbed. Lech Walesa and the Pope started the ball rolling, and entire Communist empire fell like dominoes. I think the assassination attempt was a commie payback. But forget the conspiracy angle. Who will have the biggest impact? A World shaker?
