Attended opening day here in Tampa today and what a disgrace.........the stadium was about one-third full.

What a pathetic opening day experience...........thank God I was drinking.

Fish,

I used to go watch Robbie Bell and Dee Brown when they played high school ball together in Marlboro High School. Now they are on the same team in the majors, lol. Dee Brown used to do all Robbie Bells home work, lol.

If the D-RAYS finish the season within 10 games of the O's it would be shocking to this observer.

Do you know what the cost of my ticket was today?

$5

Thats right, FIVE DOLLARS...............to sit basically anywhere!

THIS TEAM NEEDS A NEW LOCATION AND A NEW STADIUM.

SPRING TRAINING IN FLA. IS 3X MORE EXCITING!

Fish, I'll take TB +10 vs Bal. The O's have no pitching and the Rays will win lots of meaningless games when kids like Upton and Young come up later in the year.

greendoberman,

probably a good bet. i really dont expect much from the o's until they get some pitching help.

although, i do think they can be solid in the 8th and 9th if they can get there with the lead...

What are beer prices like Fish? I would guess the usual $7-8 for a domestic.

$8

However, before the game we enjoyed $12 buckets of beer(5 bottles) at FERGS Bar.

The O's have no pitching? They have the best ERA in the league at 0.00. Rodrigo Lopez might win 30 games this year. Actually, I think their pitching will be better than most expect. Rodrigo is good. Javy Lopez said his stuff is as good as any of the Braves pitchers. Cabrera, Bedard and Chen all had good springs. Ponson is a joke. Their pen might be ok. They have two tough set up men in Steve Kline and Jorge Julio and BJ Ryan has nasty stuff for a closer. They will score plenty of runs and don't need to lead the league in ERA to improve over last year. I say 84 wins and 3rd place.

fishhead,

am going to a Boston-Tampa game april 23. Will be my first game at Tampa. I was very surprised at ticket costs at Tampa.

My seats ( OK, they are pretty good) are $42 each. that was the least I could spend to get a good seat. Ticket prices there are very surprisingly high for a team with such modest achievements and hopes for this season.

they need to cut prices, add some fans to empty seats, and look to make some money on concessions and parking from the no longer empty seats.

I know it rains a lot in summer, but who thinks of going inside to do anything in Florida? That is the problem there. The Mariners had terrible attendance too when they played in the Dome, it had about as much character as a parking garage and that is the same thing I hear about the dome in Tampa.

Rumor has it after the A's, the Devil Rays are the likeliest candidate to move to Vegas. Now they might not sell 40,000 tickets a night in Vegas, but they will surely top the attendance they get down there in Tampa or in Oakland.

as Wild Bill said, won't be shocked at all to see the devil dogs playing home games a few thouand miles west of tampa in the future - playing in the only county in the state where prostitution is ILLEGAL and where Elvis "lives"

my guess is A's might move a few miles east to San Jose

D-Rays have same problem Marlins have/had.

People won't go until they start winning.
Tampa's a good sports town, but the Rays have been crap their whole existence so people are taking a show-me attitude towards them.

If I remember hearing correctly, the stadium is in a crummy place too and hard to get to, so that doesn't help.

The only reason to go to a Rays game would be to listen to "The Heckler"....it looks depressing in there...
