Baseball TV options
When I was living in Vegas I couldn't believe the blackout list of teams as Wild Bill said. When you call Directv about it they have no answers and just read corporate press releases. The comcast package does have fewer blackouts and when you actually live in the area of a team like Detroit now for me then you only get Tiger blackouts on other networks such as todays Royal broadcast of the Tiger matinee. So since Fox Net Detroit isn't broadcasting today then only us locals won't see what the country will see today on the Royals network.
They are harder to find now but the old rotating C-Band dishes with a 4dtv digital dish receives all the Fox Net channels and you see these games not blacked out when you buy a subscription through Galaxy or Turner. The baseball bonus to this is that many of the over the air games that are not included in any Baseball package can be picked up via what is known as a "Backhaul" which is a clear transmitted feed of the game the way you watched them in the 80s at bars or Vegas sports books. These are the games that the teams local station shows rather than their cable out such as a Fox Net channel. Games on KTVU for the Giants, KICU for the A's, KPLR for the Cards, KDFI for the Rangers, the PAX affliate in Tampa for the Rays, KCAL for Angels, KCOP for the Dodgers, 3tv in Phoenix for the Diamondbacks, KTVD UPN20 for the Rockies, WJZ for the Orioles. The Phillies and Padres are the hardest teams to follow since their primary carrier is a local cable affliate such as Cox4 for SD and Comcast for Philadelphia.
There is another source now known as FTA or Free to air which is the same size dish as your directv and opens up anything transmitted off a bird.
