could you explain how you would play on both sides using dollar amounts to show how much you could expect to return on this investment ?

for those guys who might not understand the format.

thanks

The problem with scalping Baseball is that unless you are an ORIGINATOR or a MOVER, it is very difficult for the majority of people to know AHEAD of time which direction the MOVE will go...

Also, if you were lucky enough to guess correctly and you wagered a hundred dollars on each side in the above case, you would WIN NOTHING if the FAVORITE wins and only 6 dollars if the DOG wins...

Finally, what about the times you guess wrong on which way a game moves?

My point is not to doubt that Fishhead was able to get a scalp, but that it is VERY VERY hard for the majority of posters to do right...

WNO: a scalp works like this.. Fish got his lines at -175 and +181

He would put $175 on the - line and $100 on the + line. He makes nothing if the - line wins but profits $6 if the + line wins

no lose only push or win and probably not for $100 units either, need to get up in to the many thousands to make money but it is made or pushed money so ZERO risk, unless the + line moves to a lesser line than your - line. Then your in deep **** if you are playing for say $50,000 a scalp!:103631605

Good post Shrink. Fishead you have to realize that maybe about 1% of offshore players go for scalps. I'm assuming that you took a lead on this game. Why don't you post a heads up before the line moves not after? I gather that you are very good at taking leads from your previous posts because I've never seen you post about taking the wrong side of one. Has that ever happened to you? What did you do if it did? Did you hold the bet or scalp out for a loss?

I would do it this way.

-175 $1750/1000
+181 $980/$1774

This way you are guarnteed about $20.00 on either side, or you can put more on the favorite/dog, and try and predict right, to make more, or lose a little.

That is not the only way a scalp can work. In your example using 100 bucks he will either win 6 bucks if the dog wins or zero if the favorite wins. I would have scalped it like this: 175/100 on the favorite, 98/177.38 (+181 price) on the dog. My way = 2 bucks either way, and not having to worry about who wins or loses.

Got nothing to do with guessing right or wrong. Just have a few different books, SIA in particular for dog odds and watch their lines closely. I've gotten 13 scalps now in the first 4 days of baseball, and none of it involved guessing. The books I use are SIA, PlaytheScore, Pinnacle, 5Dimes, BetJamaica, and Bet365. Throw open active lines on Pinny and you'd be surprised how fast you can catch a lot of these other books napping, particularly on over/unders. I too have SD -175 and Pit +182, and none of it was done through guess, just sheer paying attention to lines on various books. It's not hard to do... just throw open active lines on any book you can get them at (or your F5 pushing finger will get a workout) and just check lines every so often against each other. You'll get lucky at some points.

I've increased my bankroll just under 1 percent (like .96%) over the first 4 days of the season. If this trend keeps up, and so far all of the days have looked similar, without risking a penny, I'll have increased my account by at least 50%... not too shabby of a season might I add. Also, the more books you've got, the better, but the more time and patience it takes to find these scalps.

Like right now... not quite a scalp, but SD -1.5 +127 at PTS, Pit +1.5 -127 at Pinny... one movement on either game and you're golden.

Another factor in deciding how much to have on each side is what shops you are dealing with.

One may want to decrease or increase your balance in a particular book, so your wagers can be proportioned accordingly........perhaps having more on the book your trying to decrease your funds with, which will enable one to at least show a profit if this does not occur and viceversa.

As Shrink mentioned, it is very difficult for somebody with little experience to know which way a line is moving, so it is not recommended one takes a lead looking for scalps unless you are very experienced in line analysis..........as well as having the necessary time to monitor line movements(plus having 2 or 3 computors).

However, as AFL as pointed out, many many times one does not have to take a lead whatsoever.
