UNFORTUANTELY that ball park is not in tampa and the team is named tampa. the team needs a park just west of tampa then they could draw from 2 good sized markets (TPA-STpt and Orlando) and a nice park could be another tourist attraction. AS of now that dome is a detraction. There is plenty of land that way to do that so the price may not be as high as one would think with some sponorships. But from the current draw showing does not help this or any cause at all.

Can you imagine if they were to put a retractable roofed stadium just west of the I-4 and I-75 interchange?

Say halfway between there and Lakeland.

They would draw 40,000 a game minimum!

THIS IS WHAT HAS TO BE DONE...............RETRACTABLE ROOF AND NEW LOCATION.

Quite simple really,

Do youreally think Tampa would draw 40,000 if the park had a better location?

I will take your word for it, but I find that very hard to believe.

the trop was planned and built about 25 years ago for the white sox, MUCH HAS CHANGED in the area since then. Population has moved from the beach and soared in areas much away. THE demographics have changed, put a nice stadium in that area while the land is still widely available.

I wouldn't say 40K but if it was new it would be a big draw with all the out of towners, there The trop is a 3 hour grind in rush hour from orlando, putting it where fish said would be about 30 minutes in good traffic from Disney.

I actually go to Selmon's and wait and wait and wait. I figured you would be wearing a D-Rays or Red Sox jersey with Fishead scrawled across the back. But if I had to choose between what you asked I would be at pier 60 with my thong on (or speedo) soaking in the rays. Not Devil Rays but sun rays. Here is me entertaining some womans at the beach when I went last year. See what you missed Fish! My hair verry big then. I used to have hair on back on arms everywhere hair. Now not so much.

Also what if they had build a retractable dome. Opening it on a nice Summer evening certainly wouldn't hurt attendance. I was just at Bank One Ballpark and they opened the dome 10 minutes before the game. Made a big difference.

Oxymoron there as there is no such thing as a "nice summer evening in Florida"

They could make the first screened in dome, like the cage in my backyard, while still turning the 'air' on somehow.
