Willis continues to be a hot pitcher in April. Last year 3-0 with an ERA of 2.73 in 26 innings. Tonight a 5 hit complete game shutout defeating the Nats 9-0. Personally I have always tried to give some weight to historically hot or cold pitchers early in the year when capping baseball.

Blue - actually it works both ways - some guys are notorious slow starters. Bruce Radke is one of them and he is a 34 cent favorite tomorrow against the White Sox. While the Sox starter Jon Garland is no bargain either it may be more prudent to play over 9.5 -113 (Pinnacle) both may get lit up.

back to willis...i seem to remember that he was awesome the first half of 2003. then, he was so bad towards the end of the year that he didn't even really pitch in the post season. it was all josh beckett and ugie urbina. can you believe that team beat the yankees in the world series?

Willis is looking potent, his high leg kick and the hiding the ball behind the back he is hard for hitter to pick up. He can hit too.

Hope Dontrelle can put together a real good season. Remember, he's only 23.

Apparently the new pitching coach (Wiley) worked with Dontrelle and slightly changed his delivery. The leg kick isn't as pronounced. He looked awesome last night. Got 2 hits as well!

Blue Edwards - it wasn't easy but the Twins total over got the money. 7-3 in the bottom of 7th.

MLB notebook: Dontrelle Willis making pitch for spot in Reds bullpen

Dontrelle Willis continues to make a case for a spot in the Cincinnati Reds' bullpen.

Willis pitched two perfect innings, striking out three, and Drew Stubbs hit a three-run homer and the Reds defeated the Kansas City Royals 5-2 Tuesday.

Willis, the 2003 National League rookie of the year, has made only three relief appearances in 192 games in the majors.

The Reds have openings for left-handed relievers and Willis hopes to get one of the spots.

This could get ugly quick

Only 1 out in the first, bases loaded:

- R. Weeks doubled to shallow right
- C. Gomez sacrificed to pitcher, R. Weeks to third
- C. Hart singled to center, R. Weeks scored
- P. Fielder walked, C. Hart to second
- C. McGehee walked, C. Hart to third, P. Fielder to second
