Milwaukee +1.30 over CHICAGO <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
There’s no doubt that Ben Sheets is among the top five pitchers in the NL. Sheets was very sharp in his season debut Monday, limiting Pittsburgh to two runs and eight hits in seven innings while striking out six and walking none in a 9-2 victory. If Sheets walks someone it’s because he chose to. He walked 32 batters last season in 237 innings while whiffing 264. Sheets lost 14 games last year, however, in nine of them he received one run or less of run support. The man is the straight goods and the Brewers are playing great with a 3-0 start. It really doesn’t matter who’s pitching for the Cubbies. They look very ordinary this year because they are and we’re getting one of the major’s premier pitchers with a sweet tag on them. Not much to think about here. Play: Milwaukee +1.31 (Risking 1.5 units).<o:p></o:p>

Cleveland +1.03 over DETROIT<o:p></o:p>

Wilfredo Ledzema will make his season debut for the Tigers and he’ll face the Indian’s Jake Westbrook. Ledzema has appeared in 49 games in his career and 16 of those have been as a starter. He has a career ERA of 5.24. So, what we have here is a No. 1 starter (Westbrook) going up against a No. 5 starter (Ledzema). That’s not a bad deal and neither is the fact that we don’t have to lay a thing. Instead we get a small price on the superior pitcher and that works beautifully for us. Westbrook went eight strong innings in his season debut, allowing just three hits and a run against the White Sox. Lastly, Ledzema’s control is shaky at best and when you show us the team that draws more walks we’ll usually show you the winner. Play: Cleveland +1.03 (Risking 1.5 units). <o:p></o:p>

Pittsburgh +1.34 over SAN DIEGO
Oliver Perez is a quality starting left-handed pitcher and that’s a commodity that every team in the major’s seek. Perez was roughed a bit in his season debut but we’re not going to let that dictate the way we play this one. Perez went 12-10 with a 2.98 ERA with 239 strikeouts in his first season with the Pirates. Not many pitchers in the majors can claim an ERA under 3.00. Interestingly enough, Perez is a former Padre that was traded to Pittsburgh along with NL rookie of the year Jason Bay is exchange for Brian Giles and some other dude named Corey Stewart. Nice trade San Diego, who was the genius behind that one? Anyway, Woody Williams will go for the home side and Williams is a 12-year vet that is 38 years old. He, too, was roughed up in his first start and that’s a trend we’re getting accustomed to seeing. That being, these old arms are getting smacked around pretty good and it appears as though they need a few starts to warm up. We witnessed guys like Kirk Reuter, Brad Radke, Greg Maddux, David Wells, Jon Leiber and a few more suffer the same fate. And lastly, the Padres have complained about their own barn since the day they moved in. They claim that it’s extremely difficult to hit the ball there. That’s working on their collective psyche and in fact, in its first two home game, San Diego is hitting .214. Keep complaining boys. Play: Pittsburgh +1.34 (Risking 1.5 units).

Also: unrelated to baseball but worth mentioning is tonight, a boxing match:
Mzonke Fana +13.00 over Marco Antonio Berrera:
This is huge value on a dog that really has a very good shot to win and is certainly worth a bet.
