Friday night was the firat time I have had the opportunity to listen to the Braves New announcer Chip Carey for any length of time. I was pleasantly surprised to find that he was very knowlegable and easy to listen to; infact he sorta reminded he of a hyper Bob Costas. Several people commented on how excited he gets at the least little thing that goes the Braves way.

I was wondering if you guys/girls that are Chicago fans miss him as an announcer? Sadly his leaving Chicago takes away the last tangible memory of his Grandfather and legendary announcer, Harry Carey. Chip's dad, Skip Carey, has been the only voice of the Braves that I can remember since I was a kid and I can't imagine not hearing his voice during the games. I can only feel some empathy for Cubs fans when Harey passed...but its great to see the family business doing so well.

Yes, Chip will be missed...Very good broadcaster....Steve STone, however we will live without....He is very knowledgeable, but comes across as a know it all, and very opinionated on moves, i think he feels he knows more than any manager or GM in the league.....

You will enjoy Chip though....

Well I am not a Cubs fan but have listened to many a game on WGN. The real miss there is Stone. He was a top notch baseball tv guy. Carey always seemed a little shallow and somewhat of a punk to me.

as a former broadcaster at a radio station that carried the cubs, i think the radio team of pat hughes and ron santo are much better than the new t.v. team
(although santo goes a bit balistic at times).

I miss winning baseball more than the announcer. Stone was great but he is on the local sports station now.

Steve Stone will be missed - he was a great broadcaster and he really did know just about everything and usually knew what was going to happen before it did. Harry Carry, on the other hand, was not a good announcer.

Back in the 70's, Harry was good as anyone. Don't really like the Dodgers but listenening to Scully is great too, espically since he does the games solo.

you will love chip as long as you like a guy that is a total fan of the team he works for. won't say anything too negative towards management or players or the team. he is nothing like his grandfather Harry in that regards.
