Been around the world but never been to Vegas. Plan on taking a trip there soon. I've heard in passing that you want to avoid staying on Fremont Street and anywhere off the strip. Why? Also how would you rate: Caesar's, Circus Circus, Sahara and the Lady Luck? Thanks :103631605

don't bother with Circus Circus, Sahara, or Lady Luck. All are dumps in bad locations not convenient to other hotels.

Thanks guys :103631605 I am looking at lasvegas.com right now to get an idea of what Vegas has to offer (and listen to you guys as well :digit: ), are there better sites I can go to in order to get dining and entertainment info?

If you ask here, there's hundreds of people that will give you quality, unbiased info not paid through advertisements. I strongly feel this is your best resource. Most people on here won't have agendas when giving recommendations, something those other sites can't deliver.

Thats bullshit...I'd rather stay in the freemont street area everything is walking distance....I go to LV once or twice a year..I'm in my room for about 5 minutes while I'm there...unless your one of them fancy men..dowtown and fremont fine and to me more fun.

you HAVE to stay at LEAST one night on fremont! golden nugget,4queens,fitzgeralds,those places rock! the entertainment on the street its self is awsome. you HAVE to go get a daquiri at la bayou! for $6 you get a yard in a plastic cup or a football. if you get thru the 1st with a small buzz the 2nd will put you in a coma guaranteed! the hotels you mentioned suck and as far as the strip its a moneypit EXCEPT my favorite place treasure island. its got the mirage, the venetian, the mall, all very close and ive never come home with less than i left with, everytime ive scored huge in thier casino. for nighlife ya gotta hit club RA at the luxor. its 1 of the top 3 clubs in the world and if your single you wont wake up in your room alone the place is a meat market.theres a sax player on fremont who will blow you away the guys amazing.i wish i were there right now! ~RG

These people have been right so far. The nugget is great, nice pool, nice employees. There are a few more things to see if you stayed on the strip, but it isnt that hard to get down there. Also, the bash is going to be at the RX, so you might as well support the people that are supporting this site. Ask any specific questions you have and I will try to answer, I have lived here my whole life.

One of the best, if not the best, restaurants in the city is at the Four Queens, Hugo's Cellar.

A big difference is you can walk around Freemont Street between casinos while some properties on the strip are a half a mile from end to end, so you need a car or taxi. Would not suggest car for your first visit when not familiar with traffic patterns.

Other than that it would help responders to know your interests and plans.

I stayed downtown at the Lady Luck once and was suprised how nice it was. You spend minimal time in your room, only to shower and sleep. Downtown definetly worth checking out. The strip will wear you out walking. You can be in out of 6-10 casinos vs time to get out of 1 on strip. Monorail or cab it on strip. Not worth renting a car unless you do stay downtown or want to go to out casionos like Green Valley Ranch, Sunset, etc. On strip heard bad things about IP. Imperial palace.

I also strongly recommend that you don't stay at the Showboat.... It's been out of business for about 5 years and the Castaways which purchased it went bankrupt and presently the Stations Casinos owns the property but it has been closed and vacant for about 2 years. If you stay on Freemont St, the Golden Nugget is certainly the Class. I live in Vegas and I personally would strongly recommend staying on the strip like Paris, Barbary Coast, Bally's, Caesars, Bellagios, etc. In my opinion, it's where's it's happening. Just my 2 cents worth.
My wife is in room reservations for Circus, Circus and since She is presently working today and will never see this post...... stay elsewhere !!

ohhhhh dont remind me. last year i got 3 extra shots in my drink and was watching a killer 70s and 80s band and dancing my ARSE off.my gfs dared me to get on stage and being so wasted i did! the lead singer let me dance but drunken roxy went to a mic and joined in with the band singing brick house and ghetto life by rick james.i was so hung over the next 2 days but it was soo much fun.i was asked to come back the next night but we were at treasure island by then. i love fremont!:drink:
