#1 Thing Missed from 90's NBA

As I was watching today's ABC doubleheader, I was thinking about the games that were broadcasted towards the mid-late 90's.. and all I could say is that I miss NBA on NBC. The John Tesh song, Hannah Storm as reporter, Jim Gray being the penis that he is/was, and Bob Costas as commentator (a human dictionary). In my opinion, ABC doesn't bring that oomph to broadcasting the NBA. Sure, there are the songs done by JLO and Destiny's Child, but nothing beats Tesh. Also, I want to jump out the window when I hear Dr. Jack commentating. Sure, he's a legend, but the man can't commentate. That goes for Bill Walton, Steve Smith, and Tom Tolbert. The only bright spot in ABC/ESPN commentary is Mike Tirico. Everyone knows the talent and gameplay of NBA has decreased, but I don't see anyone talking about how poorly the broadcasting has been. Am I too picky or are people enjoying this ****(NBA)?

Bob Costas = Great to listen to

Jim Gray = Balls the size of cantelopes

Hannah = Helped me through puberty

John Tesh = I have to disagree here, give me dead silence over anything by Tesh.

:think2: Really? I don't remember feeling anything for her.

I miss 1) Marv Albert's "from downtown" calls
2) everything about Michael Jordan and the Bulls
3) I gotta say I like the Tesh song.....it defined the era

I like Tom Tolbert, and I have a sneaking suspicion that he makes cash handicapping games.

I could see Tolbert being one of us. At least the TNT crew is still intact, with Marv teaching Steve Kerr how to commentate every game.

my right hand would have helped me get thru puberty more than Hannan Storm. i wouldn't kick her out of bed - but i wouldn't make much of an effort to get here in there in the first place. if she threw herself at me - i would catch her - but other than that - i'd "UTEP" her (take an "el paso" on being with her)

i am showing my age - but chery tiegs' pink bikini poster and farrah fawcett's red suit poster were what helped me get thru puberty!

You guys need to understand one thing........I needed alot of help getting through puberty!! Nothing like watching Jordan and the Bulls and then catching Hannah at half time. Quick nap during the 3rd quarter and then watching Jordan close out the fourth.

I still enjoy the nba. Most that talk bad about the league were never fans. I get a bit bothered by jerks like sprewell and artest, but after ncaa hoops, we basketball fans have little else to watch.

Are there any support groups out there to help me with my Kyla addiction?

TNT has better teams calling the games. I like the excitement and quality comments you get from the Harlan/Thompson team. John Thompson is very underrated, a guy that certainly knows his hoops, but also a guy that makes good observations on many things like Charles Barkley. That TV studio crowd on TNT is first rate too, Charles is the greatest he pulls no punches. The ABC/ESPN crowd sucks. Stephen A could ruin anything, haven't they figured that out yet? Tom Tolbert makes better comments on other sports on his radio show than in the basketball studio.

I thought the NBA was at it's best when CBS had it.

stockton and brown pat obrien on the sides in their prime is the best team of anouncers of all time for pro hoops to me

plus the NBA was incredibly exciting at the time with the lakers/celtics rivalry amoung many other things.
