I don't know how you guys deal with all the shitt that goes on in that league. I bet the Lakers tonight +10 for a small action bet. Trailed 99-97 with under 2 minutes left, and the Suns scored the last 9 points to win 108-97. Even after the Lakers gave up and let them run out the clock, the Suns hit a garbage jumper, and the Lakers missed their garbage jumper after that. I watched most of the game, and it was back and forth all night. If they played another quarter, no doubt the Lakers would come back and grab the lead. Unbelieveable what a bad beat that just was. Or maybe it was very typical. Seems impossible to handicap.

it is somewhat typical. I had Lakers and Toronto +3.5 (at sia) tonite - they led outright most of the game then gave it up in the final seconds. It is maddening. Especailly when it seems so logical to play against a team like LA, and hearing all the 'LA sucks and Phoenix is good logic', and they still get the cover

These bad beats are a sum of zero gains as far as I'm concerned. Win some lose some. I had suns for the game and 2nd half. Tonight I'm happy, but tomorrow I might be throwing stuff at my tv. Crazy things like this happen in all sports, but the nba is more pronounced I suppose.

I am literally in shock. I don't watch the NBA anymore, but was doing laundry and needed to stay up, so I thought I'd place a bet and watch the game. It never occurred to me that there was a possibility the Lakers weren't going to cover 10 points. They led by 6 with under 6 minutes left, and like I said, I have no doubt they'd take the lead if there was a fifth quarter. I'm glad I stay away from the NBA.

I am sure NBA players don't know the spreads....

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Gilbert Arenas staged another shooting boycott, and it once again came at the end of a five-game losing streak.....
But the story of the game was Arenas' strange behavior. He took just two shots in the first three quarters and finished with just eight points -- all in the fourth quarter -- as for the third time in his career he opted not to shoot for long stretches of a game. He failed to score in double figures for the first time since Jan. 17.

they forgot to mention, Wiz missed the cover by a half point, too bad we didn't know Arenas was staging a boycott before the game.

I don't think so. I've placed maybe 3 NBA bets this year, and it's barely watchable even when there is money on the line. Shawn Marion might as well be called Shawna. Shoots like a junior high girl.

I cant remember the Team, but the one that let your Team in CBB come from 8 in a minute. All bad beats are the same, you cant win them all. The bottom line is putting the work in on any one sport.

Totally agree. I am one of those who will make a small bet to have some action going and even I won't bet on the NBA.

The team I believe you are referring too is Arizona.

Handicapping the NBA like any sport requires patience and discipline. Opportunities do provide themselves throughout the season and even more so in the playoffs as the games become more meaningful. If you bet just to have action in anything, you are bound to end up with a negative return on investment.

I see your point, but that was a freak of nature too. Besides, that was college, where the players actually have heart and care about the team, rather than their stats, and groupies and pot-smoking after the games. Not really the same sport at all. I hate the NBA!

You are right, Ted. I can't expect to win a bet that I place for action. It wasn't a big bet, and I'm a recreational player, so not too big of a deal. I just have never been so shocked at the outcome of a wager. I stared at the screen for 5 seconds after the game to make sure the score was correct. Still can't believe they didn't cover, cause so many things had to happen at once to get the outcome that we got.

Schedule tracking with logs is a MUST in my opinion, along with shopping for the best possible line of course.
