Since we have had a lot of off beat threads lately, I thought I'd start the day out by throwing some questions actually related to Sports Betting to see what some of our prodigies and non prodigies think...

<b>WHEN COMPARING SAME NUMBERS MIDDLING FOOTBALL AND HOOPS, IN WHICH SPORT WOULD U PREFER TO HAVE THESE POSITIONS, FOOTBALL OR BASKETBALL???

A-MINUS 2 PLUS 4----> FOOTBALL or HOOPS?

B-MINUS 6 PLUS 8-----> FOOTBALL OR HOOPS

C-MINUS 13 PLUS 15---> FOOTBALL OR HOOPS?</b>

3 Hoops then Football

Although #1 would be great for hoops as well...you would become very wealthy with that scenario in the NFL...

Feel free to elaborate if your answers are different involving College Foots and Hoops...

Thus far, Your responses are the only ones that match up with mine...

I suspect you are probably thinking that it might all be Hoops if we use College Sports...

I don't agree and I'd still have the same responses, whether Professional or Collegiate...

2) Football and Basketball are approximately equally good

A. The 3 is best for football - no question - regardless of whether it is the NFL or college.

B. The 7 is better for the NBA but it is also useful for NFL and NCAA football to a certain extent - but it is USELESS for college hoops.

C. The 14 is better for the NBA. It is somewhat important in college football but it means very little in the NFL and even less in college hoops.

If anyone thinks that the 7 is better for the NFL than for NBA, I ask a simple question:

Why does a 4 point basketball teaser cost as much as a 6 point football teaser?

The reason is because the basketball spreads/scores are more inclined to be centered around the mean than football spreads/scores. Therefore, a game with a middle at 7 for the NBA has a greater probability of hitting the 7 (or being centered around the 7) than an NFL game is. That is why you only get +/- 4 points on your teaser in the NBA.

... and since key numbers mean NOTHING in college hoops, I think college hoops teasers are the worst sucker bet around.

You know the more I think about it, the more I am inclined to say that Hoops is clearly the choice in almost every situation except the NFL 2-4...

The bottom line here is that in Hoops, baskets are scored in 1 2 and 3's, keeping you always in it...

The same cannot be said for Football, where the scoring comes primarily from 3's and 7's....

Additionally, the 2-4 Middle in Hoops is the strongest numbers to have for hoops middlers, imo...
