Well didn't have any money on yesterday's game other then my Total Wins future on the Giants, but have to admit a tough loss to swallow nevertheless. Which brings us to what might we expect tonight. Believe the uncharacteristic loss yesterday via three errors from quality defensive players plus the first blown save by closer Benitez may have a carryover affect. In a game that looked to be placed in the win column, maintain a four game winning streak, move into first place only to be knocked out with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth while leading 8-5 is not easily forgotten. Add that to the fact that the Giants face their nemisis O. Perez who has performed consistently well against them makes it doubley tough. Brett Tomko pitched better then his numbers show in his first start, and finished last season going 5-1 with a 1.43 ERA, but was squeezed by the small strike zone being called last week. Certainly possible he may perform well tonight as he is a tough minded young pitcher and relishes a stage like this one. Interestingly, early action has gone on the Giants so far and the total seems to be shaded to the Under. Somewhat of a surprise to me. Is today's game worth a play? Don't think so. Once again, I'll sit back and have positive thoughts as going into this series with the Dodgers, I was hoping for a split. Yesterday would have been sweet. Now, there is a need but no guarantee. Hope no one minds me sharing my thoughts even though no selection is made. Just sharing local knowledge. Good luck all.

Good stuff OMT. Are the Giants ready for a trade yet - Felipe Alou for Dusty Baker?

FairWarning:

Never would happen. Felipe manages every game like it is the 7th game of the World Series while Dusty manages like he has scripted the entire season.

Sure, anything to help my buddy. Weather update. Partly cloudy, temperature in the mid 50's, with a slight breeze. Good luck tonight.

Hi Ted, the bull pen looks real bad lately, and since Benitez appeared about 5 times, he hasn't struck out anyone lately. We need them to knuckle down, huh?

gotta love my dodgers.

got into that pretty deep discussion earlier with you ted before the year started. think i had one person in my corner.

4 wins later agains the giants no doubt, and 6-2 record with a cy young closer, #1 pitcher, and starting left pitcher and even a situational lefty on the DL, and things aren't looking too bad right now for the boys in blue.

game yesterday drove me insane, and then tonight to watch the ellison kid make two more mistakes, that has to hurt if your a giants fan.

all i know is that i really felt something before this season started, i was the only dodger fan i knew he was defending depodesta. granted its too early to be saying anything, this is def. the way a season should be started.

ted. there were a few questionable calls by giants manager alou tonight.

numerous plays occured because of the defensive team he put on the field. a few shots down the right field line were not even attempted at. niekro is tall, but he is no jt snow, and lack of experience even with a righty lefty matchup goes to the pitcher in those situations. looking at the replay it was easily in JT Snow territory.

the giants looks dazed and confused. didn't seem to care if they won or lost. tomko was upset all night long at himself. its got to be tough to hear fans and writers talk about how much potential you have, but never actually get to the point where you produce consistently. giants seemed like even if they came back, it didnt matter, as the dodgers would find a way to win, or the giants would find a way to lose.

alou ran out of bench players also. by starting so many right handed hitters in the lineup, the second the dodgers brought in there lefty specialist - the giants were forced to throw in tucker who does not hit lefties anymore.

couple that with him going into right field late in the game and making a dfensive lapse on a carum - and things were looking bad.

ellison made two more almost costly errors as well.

the giants just seemed uninterested. they are obviously sick of the dodgers, as are the dbacks. yesterday was brutal on them - and for me, with it being a day game against the giants with such a crazy ending, it brought back wonderous memories of finleys grand slam to win the west last season.

giants need to get it together. and as excited as the chronicle is about leaving LA behind - unless schmidt is pitching three games, the last place a depleted and tormented bullpen needs to go is colorado.

if they cant take the series this weekend - the giants may end up tanking until barry comes back.

moises going down was a critical blow to their spirits.
