I have internet for $5 bucks a month from t-mob through a regular Motorola flip phone, but now have a Blackberry phone/PDA with unlimited access (and a bigger screen)

I heard Youbet (horses) is going wireless, but I think you would need special software, with so many betting choices in a race and odds etc.

What I have now, just using WAP sites, don't need any special software.

I haven't had to download anything to use the sites I have been to. I haven't done the Youbet thing, I stopped using them so much since some books give rebates on horses

These wireless things are dangerous though - you can be sitting at a meeting or something and pull out your cell phone like you are a checking a call but actually put some action on today's game....

i use my treo 600 to place bets and while it can take a minute or three more than calling on the phone or using a PC, it's pretty easy. The longest time is spent waiting for the pages to load. Some sites (like Pinnacle) don't seem to be properly designed to facilitate fast loading on a PDA. Takes over a minute for a typical Pinny page to load.

What we PDA users are waiting for is when all websites load quickly on a PDA. For example, the RX is, for the most part, is unusable with a PDA. Waiting for pages to load is similar to what we endured ten years ago using 14.4 dialups. Kind of like that now for most websites for PDA users. However, there are a few websites that load real quickly for PDA users (ESPN scores, and The Greek for example). Why am I not surprised the Greek is ahead of the curve on this? Spiro has always seemed to be ahead of the curve on a lot of things.

Nothing to download to use Pinny or Greek. just plug in account number and PW and it's all the same as online......

t3a...that is EXACTLY why and how I use it. Did it today in fact. WHen a strategic planning discussion got especially boring, I put in a play :)

I place wagers, check the scores, and read/post at the Rx with my old school Treo 300. I am getting a Treo 650 as soon as my 2 year gig on this ends. Once you get one of these things you will wonder how you ever lived without it. Nowhere near as convenient as a computer, but still indispensable. WIthout it I could get reduced juice at Pinny or Holly and no free half points at Skybook since those are all online only deals. Those alone more than pay for any fees you pay for phone service.

Sounds great. What does a typical bill amount to? Are most packages unlimited internet usage?

t3a...I just type in the pinny website address and it opens the home page, .....it looks very similar to the home page online. if the web page is not displaying, maybe your memory is full. Clear your history and try again. I usually don't have any problem with it...

hmmmm......

I have a funny feeling that only those with PDA's like the new Treo 650 or Blackberry can visit 'all' the websites....

I wasnt aware you cld Bet Pinny via mobile Unit, I thought it was only WEBSITES with a WAP site.....

I think perhaps that is so for regular cell phones, however Blackberries & other devices are different....
