Why "Coors field" is called "hitter friendly? What generally makes a baseball stadium "hitter firiendly"? I do not know baseball too much, never understand why the line on totals of Colorado home games are more higher than usual. I am seeing a Colorado home game for the 1st time live on tv right now.

Coors field is in Denver the Mile High City. The higher the altitude the lighter the air which offers less resistance to a ball in flight. Golfers hit the ball 10 to 15 percent farther in the Denver area.

The fences are also deeper at Coors because of the altitude. This makes the gaps huge which leads to many more doubles and triples than your average park. Also, the ball doesn't move as much (curve balls aren't as sharp) for pitchers making it easier to hit.

I don't know what they can do short of having the Rockies move, which seems silly, but I don't like that there is a park like that....
