Suns are playing some pretty good defense last month of the year. I think the reason why they haven't been on fire recently has been because they have switched the focus to more of a defensive game. People probably don't realize it, but they have given up over 100 points only once all month. Back on March 20 in a game at Memphis Nash chewed the whole team out in the middle of a timeout for not playing defense. They went on to win that game by 97-91, a very unlikely result for this squad. Since then they have been noticeably more interested on the defensive side of the ball. They certainly are no Detroit or San Antoinio, but they are far more capable of playing defense than skeptics believe. It is just the style of offense requires taking some chances and also takes less time off the clock so opponents get more shots.

Go look at the game log Rob and tell me I am wrong. They only allowed the Warriors to get over 100. We shall see come playoff time, no one else has anywhere near the weapons the Suns do. Good defense is important, but if you have a potential 30 point night from all five starters its hard to say defense is going to stop them.

I know what you are saying WB. I am a huge fan of offense and I wish the Suns well.

But I think of that game a few months ago where both teams were healthy. The Suns were up big, but the Spurs played some D and made an easy come back for the win. The suns can't get out of their own way when they face a team with good defense. It'll be interesting to see what happens if they face the new look Mavericks or Nuggets.

I am all for lots of offense and the Suns certainly have a lot of intangible tools , that is why I am kind of pulling for Phoenix. I just dont see it happening with that lack of height and a philosiphy that has hardly any regard to much neccesary defense to win big playoff games.
