Out of fairness to Royal, I thought I should notify you guys that we have come to a compromise regarding the March Madness contest. For those of you who missed it, I was pissed that I was only awarded $100 for being one of the five entrants to pick the perfect brackets because I hadn't made a deposit. The other 4 entrants split the 25k. I felt I deserved an equal share because there were no rules on the website or in the promotional email I had been sent... but moreso because I had emailed Royal requesting the rules and never received a reply. Royal sent out different versions of the promo email, one of which did include the free entry/no deposit condition.

Anyway, I've worked things out with Royal management and I'm satisfied.

Maybe we should change your tagline then?

That tagline should never have been given to him anyway, because by the terms of the contest, they only owed him $100.

Advertising DOES have its privileges, I guess.

Well obviously they felt he had a case...

I will ask 'just because'...what did they end up compensating you?

I don't want to turn this thread into a debate over who was right. Royal thinks they were right and I KNOW I was right, lol.

Journeyman, let's just say it was more than $100 and less than $5000. I'm not 100% satisfied, but satisfied. I'm moving on.

Compensating me for what ? Can you remember the last time I ever entered a contest anywhere ? Didn't think so.

-----------

And is it that they "obviously felt he had a case", or that they obviously didn't want him to use the 'Royal Owes Me $5,000' tagline for the rest of his life ?

I wouldn't have given the guy another nickel ... ESPECIALLY after crying to all the forums and using that tagline .... but that's just me ... other people operate differently than I do, I guess.

Clearly you know he was asking the original poster what they compensated him and was not asking you ???? :smoker2:

LOL ... actually, I didn't realize that at the time, but you're 100% right.

I thought it was a bit of a strange question for JMan to be asking me.

You have to pardon Halifax. He, lately only comes around when the oppurtunity arises to create controversy for us. But we appreciate it.

What doesn't kill us, will only make us stronger.

He's a good guy. He just needs to focus on the positives and not so much the negative.

To each their own.

Come on General, wasn't it you who named me the Honorary Rx Ombudsman :howdy: ... not trying to create controversy, just trying to correct some errors and misinformation ... and I'm not even charging for my services. :103631605

As far as Weebs' situation is concerned, technically, Royal didn't owe him another dime, as their contest E-Mails either stated outright that you needed to deposit in order to get the $5K prize, or they stated that you needed to "call for details". Giving out a larger prize to contestants who actually have funded accounts at the book is nothing new, and is nothing unique to Royal ... it only makes sense that books would rather reward their loyal, paying customers than reward contest whores who don't even play at the book.

As I said, if it were me, I wouldn't give him anything beyond the $100 ... but Royal can do whatever Royal wants to do, I guess.

Why books give into cyber extortion is beyond me. The man was owed 100. Nothing more.

Royal, do you understand that giving into this idiot will simply create 10 more that do the same to you? When will you guys learn your lesson?????
