I would not be surprised if Balto outscored New york for the season.

Tejada is as good as anyone in baseball at driving in runs....Melvin Mora is a poor man's Miguel Tejada...

:lolBIG: If Sosa and Raffy have comeback years look out!

Starting pitching they are not Johnson/Pavano/Mussina vs 3 AAA pitchers is a difference. Starting lineup though the O's could hold their own.

BJ Ryan IS better than Rivera. The O's are 5-1 vs the Yankees this year and should have won the game they lost vs Randy Johnson. Also, when mentioning the O's lineup, you can't forget the best player in the AL in the early going, Brian Roberts. He was 2-4 today to up his average to .449. He also has a 17 game hitting streak dating back to last year. And you have to love George's comments after the game.

Owner George Steinbrenner issued a statement after Sunday's game that read: "Enough is enough. I am bitterly disappointed, as I am sure all Yankee fans are, by the lack of performance by our team. It is unbelievable to me that the highest paid team in baseball would start the season in such a deep funk.

"They are not playing like true Yankees. They have the talent to win and they are not winning. I expect Joe Torre, his complete coaching staff and the team to turn this around."

And so it goes......

Even though we are judging this on a 12 game sample, the fact remains the glaring weakness of this team is the pitching staff. I just don't see how it can get any better throughout the season, thus they'll be in for a long season. Losing more then in the past.

Does anyone seriously believe the Yanks won't reach the postseason?

If Johnson shows his age and a couple guys get hurt they could miss the postseason. They don't have much depth. They have nothing to trade either about all they can upgrade is by taking big contracts off of losing teams.

I just love how people keep saying the O's have no pitching. Rodrigo Lopez and Daniel Cabrera will just keep cashing tickets for me.
