Without question, good source of vitamin C and potassium!

Excellent point Dante!

Personally, I think a total of 16 ounces is a tad to much for most considering the total sugars contained in OJ..........maybe 6-8 ounces in the morning and a shot glass in the evening.

Probably a mere 6 ounces total a day will do the trick.........cant hurt.

OJ Seems to Lower Blood Pressure

People who drank two glasses of orange juice a day for six weeks saw a surprising 10 mm Hg drop in their systolic blood pressure levels, doctors at the Cleveland Clinic Heart Center tell MSNBC. The average drop in the systolic level, which is the top number in a blood pressure reading, was accompanied by an average 3.5 mm HG decline in the diastolic (bottom) reading, says study author Dr. Dennis Sprecher.

He asked 24 adult volunteers with borderline hypertension to drink two 8-ounce glasses of either an orange drink or one of the following juice preparations each day for eight weeks.

My breakfast: one sunny-side-up egg, banana, two pieces of whole grain bread with honey, a glass of milk and a glass of room temperature spring water.

Agree, I think drinking 16 ounces will definetly drop your BP more than drinking just 8 oz, but there is no doubt in my mind that drinking just 8 oz will do the same to a lesser degree.

Plus, one can make other dietary changes and lifestyle changes to further lower their blood pressure such as consuming garlic, consuming other potassium and vitamin C enriched foods, and getting proper exercise to maintain desired weight levels.

PS- My entire family has high blood pressure, but I have been fortunate to be able to keep mine at a safe level through taking some of the minor precautionary methods listed above. Hope I can maintain those levels as I get older because I do not want to be on any medication to lower it. So far been lucky..........knock on wood.

OJ is a little too acidic for my digestion. Besides my blood pressure usually measures around 105/75 so lowering it would not be a good idea. Then maybe the OJ only works on hypertensives.

Cereal, 2% milk and coffee for me with high cholesterol bacon and omlette two or three times a week.
