I was just about to bet one, but I got a better price by betting some on ML and some on -1.5. With a little algebra, I got -1 -108, instead of -1 -111. Just a heads up, as I had not looked at it closely before.

You got -1/108, but what is the other side?

If someone had taken +1, would they have gotten a better deal too? I doubt that would be the case, but you never know.

What were the numbers, btw? Do you have them?

You can get it a pinnacle. There are no +1 lines.

Here is the game that I bet.

Fla Marlins -1 (-111)
-1.5 (+120)
ML (-138)

I was going to lay $100 at -111, which would pay $90.09. Instead, I bet $58 to win 42.03 on the ML, and $42 to win $50.40 on the -1.5 RL. So, if the -1 hits, the payout would be 92.43, instead of $90.09. If they win by one, I push just like the -1 line. So it's very close to -108. I don't know if it's universal, but it worked out for this game. Right now, the line has changed, but it's still on the board.

Unless we are talking about 2 totally different things, you can take the other side +1 (an adjusted runline).

I love Pinny.

I just did the calculations on the Padres tonight and it is the same. Line on the Padres is -1 (-123) at Pinnacle. If you do the algebra and balance it, you can actually get -1 (-120). Who said 9th grade math would never come in handy? I guess Pinnacle figures we won't run the numbers if we like -1.

The samples that I've done show that you get about 3 cents better on each side, if you mix the ML and 1.5 run lines. Take the Angels/Mariners game tonight, if you bet Mariners +1, it's -115, but if you mix +1.5 and ML, you can get about -112. If you bet the Angels -1, it's +101, but if you mix -1.5 and ML, you can get over +104. So I guess they just figure that most people won't take the time and do the calculations themselves. Cause everything that I see says that you should never bet the -1 or +1 lines. -1 may be a sucker bet, I don't know, but at least I'm getting a better line than they are giving out.

I've never bet +/- 1 run-line. I think the reason is the juice is higher. It makes sense that combining an 8-cent line with a 10-cent line will produce a better line than the 16 cents vig or whatever they use to create this line. It probably works on either side off it. Good catch, though !

With baseball starting again, I thought I would bump this, so people will know that a little bit of math work can get them better odds, if you like betting the -1 and +1 lines at Pinnacle. One of my rare betting contributions to this site.

I live on the -1 lines all season.

I'll take my chances on a push by playing a
-120 ML favorite and turning it into a +118 dog laying 1 run.

Illini: You might want to bump the thread with the conversion formula as well, if you can find it.

I found that thread and bumped it. It is in the baseball forum, and it was started by curt.

Another great system is to bet 2/3 unit on the dog and the remaining 1/3 on the dog alt R/L. (Pinnacle).
