Just pondering this as I watch the Yankees - Devil Rays game. Take away his rookie season in Cleveland, and Wright has been a VERY below-average career pitcher at best. Got a 5.09 career ERA, and here he is wearing pinstripes and earning $5.6 million per-year. We (the sports fans who pay his salary) must be extremely insane.
