Geez. They're replaying it like it actually bounded into and over the highway. By morning, someone will say they found the ball below the Citgo sign on Commonwealth Ave.

There is a road AND the train tracks for the Worcester train (which stops at Yawkee Station) between the parking lot and the highway.

If McGuire couldn't hit a undersized baseball to the pike when he was juiced on roids, nobody will hit a regulation baseball there.

What Manny is doing is so very impressive for a RIGHT-handed hitter!

Awesome!

Maybe that is why FranCOMA took him out with a two run lead.

I hate these offense/defense substitutions

i remember one day some announcer said some HR went over the Citgo sign in left

never mind that in order to do so the ball would have to go over what Cincy said ON THE FLY which means the ball would have to go about 800 feet ON THE FLY and i think we know that just can't happen.

Didn't George Scott put one on the 'Pike in the late 70's/early 80's?

MANNY definetly got all of that one!

WOW!

A little hanging cut slider right in the freaking wheelhouse!

That ball was absolutely crushed and went a minimum of 500 feet without question!

I was at the game last night and thinking the same thing, but it turns out Francona took him out due to tightness in one of his quads...

Why would the Redsox wait till they got down 3-0 before they decided to use them, I cant buy that story, I think the Redsox just never QUIT.

Manny is a great hitter with a lot of power. I doubt that his power comes close to that of George Foster's, who hit several homers in the upper red seats of Riverfront Stadium. And was still climbing. That is a shot. one9

The Sox no longer measure HRs, partly in deference to the Ted Williams "seat" out in right center, marking the 502 ft. shot that he once hit. Several--including Manny's last night--have gone farther, just not "officially."

The Red Sox do measure HR distances - but don't measure/estimate the distaces of HR's that leave the ballpark. :icon_conf
