Through the cell phone companies I guess? Where you can use your laptop to get on Internet no matter where you are. Do you get booted off alot? How fast does it run? This would be absolutely great if it ran smoothly. Road Trips, and vegas hotel rooms. Car outside of the sportsbooks!

Any opinions?

you need to get the cable and the program for it.. around 80 bucks..

you connect at around 256k or a little higher.. which is a lot faster than dial up...

most hotels , any decent ones anyway, offer FREE highspeed wireless internet in all the rooms

Im stealing someones internet at the moment. I just have the antenna that you install into you comp and all you do is look for signal. I live in an apartament complex so i have a lot of choices. But i would really recommend a PDA. I was surfing the net the whole way from Chicago to Florida. It's great when you need to get on the forum to get some plays.

All of the national wireless carriers are in the early stages of deploying 3rd generation high speed wireless data technology that will esssentially give you internet access from your laptop, handheld, pda or phone at Broadband speeds in the 300-600 kbps range, comparable to cable internet or DSL service (3G will move up to the 1-2 Mbps with an upgrade another year or two out). Verizon is furthest along in their launch and the only one currently with widespread (although not 100% yet) coverage of their network. Currentlly priced at $79/mo all you can eat, but that should come down over the next few years as competition in this service heats up. The technology works well wherever there is coverage, so you need to think about where you would be using it. Sprint will be initiating similar services later this year, and you should see Cingular do the same by this time next year.
