I'm watching caesars 24/7 on A &E and I just saw a couple get married in a 5 minute drive thru wedding. I thought it was quite funny.

those wedding chapels are like 7/11. theres one on every corner and a marriage happening at every one of them every hour. its no big deal really.vegas is like no other place on earth and if youve never been there it can intoxicate you with its wonder. and thats how vegas takes your money. everything is an illusion including the possibility of winning millions.

It's like a fairly tale. You see things there that you won't ever see anywhere else in your life. You lose track of time and you rarely sleep. The glitz and glamour alone are worth the ticket of admission. Although they say how family oriented it has become, there is plenty to do for those who like the darker side of life as well..

Just about everything you could ever dream of is available in Vegas and I dare say, they have surpassed New York as having the best restaurants in the United States...

My 2 favorite ritzy Casinos I usually stay at are the Bellagio and the Venetian...

I can't wait to see Steve Wynn's new one as I suspect it will bury the competition...

wynn is a beautifull hotel shrink. but its right across the street from mirage/treasure island and next to and across the street from venetian. if anything its opening may lower the rates at the other 3 places. i hope so because im locked into a 4 day stay at TI in october.

I agree, Shrink. I think there are three things that lose their value in Vegas. Time, Money and Alcohol. Where else can you stay up all night, lose track of the time and not fall asleep? On what other days will large amounts of currency go through your hands in such a short period of time. And why is it that I can drink far more in a casino and still maintain sobriety than I can at any other time or place. Or is that an illusion too?

Actually Roxy, it is not right across the street from Mirage and Treasure Island but rather several blocks further North on the strip. I will be there for their grand opening so will let you know if anyone is interest:103631605  :toast:

another illusion then cause it seemed so close from the 10th floor overlooking the strip at TI.

ive heard rumours that they pump in pure oxygen to keep you awake thus the drinks dont affect you as fast. it makes sense cuz i get wasted after 3 beers.lol. in vegas i can drink 6 before i feel it. hmmmm... but i also hear thats not a real fact too. maybe its the bells n whistles. who knows.

I think it's illegal to pump pure oxygen, the air is just well circulated, plus all the beautiful people, helps keep you alert much longer.

Totally different perspective if you live there. Dreaded going near the strip on days off. Spent my time off doing normal anytown things... going to movies, golfing, outdoors to local mountain. Hated the noise, smoke and people in casinos. I would make my bet and leave asap. Now no need for vegas with offshore. They are even taking value away in many bj games. Will have to check out Wynns place. Its on spot of Desert Inn. Hotel noted for Howard Hughes buying the whole place after they were going to kick him out, home of Vegas with Dan Tana. Across from Frontier, where Fish and I made our initial stop on way to Rose Bowl. Sigfried And Roy were comp tickets. Logn time ago.

likewise kyhawk...the wife and i live here and have been to the strip once in two years(family) or wouldn't have been there then...there's plenty to do away from the strip...see it everyday on the news though...go to the local places like fiesta sante fe texas...much better odds on the machines and the tables as well i think...take care jeffksu
