I have seen some guest policies at courses be PRIVATE and CLOSED others as PRIVATE and RECIPROCAL. What does that mean exactly? If I were a member of a different private club elsewhere they would take me in as a guest player?

Was talking to the Pro at Wolf Run in Zionsville, IN and also a course that is highly rated in southern Indiana, Victoria National. I am not a member and its private but he asked me if i elonged to a club elsewhere, I don't at the moment, but i would if they would let me one as a meber elsewhere to play as a guest...these are two kickass courses

I am not a golfer Brock, and I could be wrong here...just going by the term reciprocate, it stands to reason that if someone at a reciprocal course allows you to join in on a round it would only be with the understanding that you would return the favor at your course.

Reciprocal guest policy is when different courses allow guests from other courses playing privledges at member rates and visa versa. Course A allows members of course B to play at member green fee rates and course B recriprocates for members of course A.

Got it Wil, and thanks.

Do they usually have specific courses they do this with, or most any private course?

It is when you belong to a country club and that club has agreements with other clubs that allows you to play at multiple courses. It is very common down here in florida and is limited to the summer only.

reciprocal is just that...if you are a member at one course ...another may let you golf at discounted rates, because they reciprocate with other courses...therefore you may be able to golf at 2 to 5 other courses for the same rate as you pay to golf at the one you are a member of...several here in vegas have reciprocal rates for locals... hope that helps...jeffksu

I would guess most of your lower and middle rung private courses have recip deals with other courses. Top level types like Pebble Beach etc. probably do not.

Down here in Florida, when it is 100 degrees w/ 200% humidity, there are not many courses who will turn anyone away. Member or not.

Can't say the same for here in Illinois, the best courses are almost all private, and I am getting tired of begging the golf pro for a round LOL I know no one personally who is a member of a private course in Illinois or Indiana. Anyone want to invite me and my golf buddy to play?

Brock,
If you come to the Vegas Bash, you can play with me at Stallion Mountain, Billy Walters' course...BW is a world class prick but the golf course is in great shape and that's all I care about! BW has 3 other private courses here in Vegas; Bali Hai just south of Mandalay Bay, Desert Pines 5-10 miles NE of the strip, and Royal Links 8 miles east of the strip right next to Stallion Mountain. Those 3 are open to tourists but they are more expensive than Stallion; I play them occasionally when SM members are allowed reciprocal privileges, and they are usually in good shape too. August is pretty cheap for golf here in Vegas...$25-50 bucks I would think.

Brock,

You Got Your Answer As To What Reciprical Is, Most Private Clubs Have These Agreements, If Not It Is Just A Phone Call From One Manager To Another Or One Pro To Another. Not All Course's Do This Especially In Season. I'am Still Waiting For Your Silly A*s To Come Up Here And Play My Course. Blue Edwards Came Last Year And Had A Great Time.........g.

I plan 100% on playing your course this summer! And i appreciate the invite, its tricky getting my 2 partners together at the same time all the time, but I will be doing that for you.

Expect to see us when its consistently warm!

Isn't SM public. I played there last year. BTW, I was not impressed. Then again most of the public golf in LV is overrated and expensive.
