For the most part NL baseball is pathetic.....

On 75% of the teams the 7-9 hitters svck they can't hit their way out of a paper bag....I know some people say the NL is pure baseball no DH...

I am sorry watching players who can't hit their weight is not pure baseball, it is pure garbage, boring...

Something really needs to be done about the pitchers hitting, in the past pitchers could actually hit as they cared about it....Now pitchers might not even go up to the plate with a bat....Yes there are exceptions but forthe most part they are pathetic at best....

Something needs to be done/...

Yeah, it is called a salary cap which we know will never happen in our lifetime. The big market teams are the only ones that can afford to have a stacked lineup 1-8 or 9. The small and medium market teams in the NL seem to put what modest resources they have to pitching while the AL teams put it into hitting. NL baseball is infinitely more interesting in my opinion. I prefer a pitcher's duel over a 10-9 game anyway. For one thing, the game doesn't take 4 hours to complete.<!-- / message -->

Are AL hitters really better or are the pitchers worse?

My guess is the latter; much rather watch a NL game.

NL is very boring to watch.

If your team is down by more than 3 at any given moment you are screwed.

The hitters are Wayyyy Better.

You also have the DH in the American league, which provides more offense.

yeah this 7-7 Cubs game is real pathetic....get real. You call last nights Angels/Yankees game great baseball? 2 of the best teams in the AL, and you get a blowout. That game was turned off the TV by the 4th inning; give me a 2-1 pitchers duel, with actual strategy used by the managers any day of the week

Sure guy does have a point. . .

When a NL team gets down by even 1 sometimes you start worrying. In the second inning when Houston was down 2-0 you just knew the game is over. Do you enjoy watching games like this?

I guess I am kind of partial to both leagues.. . they are both interesting to me, but as far as excitement I think the AL is far more exciting. Take ARod hitting 3 homeruns, or balt being down 8-3 yesterday. That is excitement. NL is Quality

Actually the pitchers in the NL are inferior to the AL....In the AL you have better hitters along with the DH so pitchers have no easy outs/innings...

If you enjoy watching paint dry which would be the equal of most NL teams 7 thru 9 hitters then by all means do so.....

If you want to believe the baseball being played in the NL is better or more fundamental go right ahead, they play the way they do because they have to as the overalll talent is inferior....

And I really enjoy watching the pitcher hit adds such excitement and strategy to the game...Maybe in decades past when the pitcher might even care about hitting it was not a joke but they should just give them the option of decalaring themselves out without even going into the box...

Sorry if you disagree but I find NL baseball inferior and would rather watch paint dry....

MOST of the teams are crap now. Over aggressive expansion has dilluted the talent pool. In the 60s and 70s most teams had 3 or 4 legitimate stars. Now with the added franchises, most teams have maybe a couple of legit stars. Pitching has been most affected. Used to be that teams had strong starters and the bullpen was an afterthought. Nowadays other than a number 1 or 2 starter the rest of the rotation is about as good as the bullpen. The 1977 expansion with the Mariners and Blue Jays really strted the downward tread in talent.

Overall talent in the NL is inferior to the AL, huh? Well lets take a look at the head to head results since Interleague play began.

NL - 988 wins
AL - 959 wins

hmm...that league with the inferior talent seems to have a 29 game lead in head to head matchups since '97. How could that be?

It's not about talent.. It's about power.

A guy who weighs 160 lbs could have all the talent in the world but he is not likely to hit a clutch homer.

NL generally has slinkies as players while the AL has the big guns who slam the homers.
