I am thinking about switching Comcast to DirectTv. Do most of you have cable or satellite?

I would think the NFL package for $200 would save me ~$1500 in bar tabs alone.

I love it.

If you have HDTV, there are only a few games broadcast each week in HD

Last year, if you signed up for $250 , the first 4 months were free- they alsoo gave their premium package with that. If you just want it for the sunday ticket, then wait til right before the season starts.
I will tell you that I had a hard time concentrating on just 1 game, b/c I had EVERY game, flipped around a lot checking on my plays.

SCnit,

NFL Ticket is well worth it. You can drink at home without worrying about driving, while saving that $1500 you used to spend at the bar. I can't imagine being without the Ticket now that Ive had it for 3 yrs.

the best money you will ever spend. You never have to watch a commercial or bad halftime show again as there is always a game on some channel.

Been able to see every Patriots game even though I live in Los Angeles. Also get to follow all my bets and fantasy players.

Since they give you 4 months free movie channels for first time subscription, costs the same as you would pay for basic + just hbo.

NFL Ticket is a must have. But I don't like the way they jack up the price every year. Somebody has got to crack the P-4 card so we can start watching free TV again.

its really only worth it if you have multiple tv's and receivers.

i set up my family room with 3 mounted tv's and another on a stand in the corner.

nothing worse than having access to all the games and having to flip back and forth to see them .

pay the extra 5 bucks a month for each added receiver and set yourself up..

Pretty soon watch them put some games only on Direct TV package, using the NFL network which few people watch. NBA TV has done far better since they started showing live games on there, so wouldn't surprise me at all with the NFL. The prices will go up again after they make that move.

All the games used to be available on C-Band Sat G7. I think Directv started showing it in 1996. I have 7 receivers so I get about all games since I get two off my Comcast cable that I use for high speed internet as well. Great for halftime betting with injury insight.

The Baseball package would be fantastic if it was like the NBA since you will get any broadcast of an NBA game available. The baseball package only shows the games that are broadcast on the teams cable station such as all the Fox Nets. You never get an over the air game on baseball from channels like KCAL, KCOP in LA, KICU in Oakland, KDFI in Dallas, KPLR in St.Louis and so on.

NFL Gameplan..the best money a man can spend each year.

Also get ESPN College Gameplan in late summer at the early bird rate(under a Franklin), as even though it lacks the marquee matchups of it's parent channel and other large networks, the schedule includes nice second-tier conference games of the week, and it's programmer has nice radar for many of the college season's "games of betting interest" involving the MAC and many others.

P.S. Baseball bettors get an XM Mifi pronto..Dibble by day and the Night-Train on 175 are very insightful..also Fred(Ch44) rocks!

Speaking of C/Ku bands, most of the ESPN Game Plan games were still coming in the clear as of last season. Of course, that cannot be said for NFL, which may have just one or two Sunday games come in the clear (CBS only) and that may have been due to a technical glitch.

Hilo,

I think the AFC games were on K2 or whatever NBC feeds were coming in the clear back in the day. I used to love working my jobs in sports bars when you have to have "the skillzz" necessary to find games quickly in the clear. Decent tips by fans, parents or relatives of players, and of course, hard-up gamblers.

Aqua,

Right on with those "other" baseball feeds, although, many of those local feeds are STILL in the clear. Cards on KPLR, Rangers on KDFI, Astros, Marlins, DRays still have ITC games, and once a a great while KCAL Angels (but not yet this year) I don't think.

The best source for keeping up on backhauls is in the Yahoo Group called " backhaul" Anyone who still uses the big dish for sports should sign up for this group and keep it bookmarked.

Horseshoe, how does the Myfi work in terms of getting the signal? Can I get a signal if I am in an office building? I heard both Sirius and XM are now putting up repeater towers in cities, just wondering if this is how the thing gets its signal if it isn't connected to the antenna the car and home kits have been coming with.

ramonscottsports, thanks for the Yahoo tidbit.

WB, Mifi comes with plenty of accessories(home charger/base, earpiece, antenna, car charger & base, etc..) it has a small black antenna(needs to be at or near a window to really work) that is the size of a cell phone connected to a long thin cord running into the Mifi base stand, then I placed a thin strand of awm receiver wire to my old five band radio(thus now rendered a speaker when set to a certain FM frequency they give you)..just as with other XM's you just call them with an activation code.

Much like a Dish it needs to face south from homes, and may experience some split second losses under overpasses, bad weather,etc..when in car.

The only p!sser is that for some crazy reason, you can listen to all XM radio stations online except the MLB package with your same very subscription..very agitating..it needs fixing should any XM exec be an RX lurker/gambling degenerate..get on it Kemosabe!

I bought a floor model at Best Buy which was $50 off due to it missing the manual(which can be found freely online at XM.com or Ccrane.com)..they are regularly $300.

Though it is only slightly more expensive than a regular car XM and XM Boombox combo, it is really great for those that jog/walk, work outdoors often,etc..

Hey SCnit, check if they offer you a sports package. In my area, the Nfl package, goes for $180, yet I could order total sports package for 24.99 a month, four month minimum!!!!

PHD - What all does the 24.99/month get you? Thanks. I always buy the three major sports packages and sometimes hockey. Also, do you know if it gets ESPNU? Thanks
