sort of what c-lo is doing. i think it would be better if you allowed a LOT more guys, and then did consensus plays....

Who gives a good write up. I used to have more time on my hands to go to stats/statfox and research all the pitching trends team trends and umps and gave some good write ups someone put me in the right direction. I will try to do an occasional write up in these regards.

Right now i just see a lot of people just listing plays WITH NO WRITE UP OR BASIS. Just these are my picks 5 chalkies good luck, I need more than that. Or at least a posted record would help too.

5teamparlay, to expect in-depth write-ups for every pick , EVERY day is a bit unrealistic ...................baseball is such a long season that over time, a 'cappers W/L record PLUS units won/lost should give you a good idea who is solid and who is throwin darts ..............the Law of Large Numbers will come into play here as the season progresses ....................If a capper knows his **** , you should be able to tell based on results (esp. units w/l , as the line is the biggest factor when capping bb) I guess what i'm trying to say is , keep an eye out for cappers who show STEADY progress over the course of the season and that should tell you all you need to know w/o all the blah blah blah ............

The three that I read religiously this season are the invitational thread that Tulsa maintains, bucsfan67's pics and SSI's pics. This is not to detract from any other poster as I do look at other guys as well, especially when a capper heats up (like MLB teams themselves, MLB cappers tend to be streaky as hell -- get 'em while they're hot!) But Tulsa, bucs and SSI are the ones I check every day without fail, even if I have no picks of my own that day.

100% agree

Someone can write a 5 page essay on a game and still be a bad capper. The records dont lie is true. I rarely take the time to write up my picks. It does not mean I dont know what im doing , or that I did not spend hours capping the matchups.

Gotta agree with chop on that...

I dont do writeups either.....but if my record over the last 3 years isnt enough to let someone know i know what im talking about, telling them that One team is 4-8 on the road, and the other team is 8-4 at home.....Well duh, everyone knows that, and its already factored into the line to start with...

Baseball is a very different sport than others to cap......And i am "untraditional" in the way i bet it anyway.....I dont believe in the "dawgs only" theory, or NO FAV'S over -150......If i like a team, and have capped it out as an easy win, i would rather lay -180 and win, then get +10 and lose, call me crazy......As i have said before the key in bases, it to pick the "right" fav's, and the "right" dawgs....

There may be days when i make 6 plays, and all 6 are fav's....Well thats just he way it is, its what i liked....Another day 5/7 might be dawgs.....I play where i see value......

If u knew ahead of time that the Yanks were gonna win 8-2, then the Yanks at (-240) would be VALUE, wouldnt it?

That is an extreme point, but some would lead u to believe that if u lay (-180), and win, that u have "DONE SOMETHING WRONG"........now if you are a 50% capper, laying (-180), then u have done something wrong....you've lost.....But if you are hitting 3/4 on your big fav's, guess what, you are MAKING MONEY......

All i am trying to say is everyone has "their style", and if u see someone winning with their style, let them be......the more winners, the better we will all be...

Once in a while i'd like to see someone handicap a game, I'd like to learn something in the proccess. I don't think i said all, I said said i could do an occasional one. Otherwise it can be very much like throwing darts with 25 guys just listing 3 games each with no posted record.

i realy don't learn much from "I'm taking the yankees red sox and the rockie over today".

i would learn from the yanks 12-0 vs mr X, etc etc etc.

Until recently, i did indepth write ups for my plays, but it just became "too much' for me. it would be different, i guess, if I were a tout and people were paying me for my opinion. Anyway, you can pretty much tell by hanging out in forums who is knowledgeable by reading their "non picks" posts.
Saying that, in bases, it's still early in the season, so I'm still not sure who the best cappers are: I usually look in the tracker forum for the top guys in various sports. It's also a bit of friendly "competition" for me, since I'd like to be near the top in each sport. Obviously, Bucs and Choptalk have got off to blazing starts. Baseball's a grind, and time will tell who the best cappers are this season. Consistantcy is the key, lots of 3-1's and 2-1's are better than a 4-0, then coming back 0-4 the next day.
