anybody else with a laptop have this issue.

i havent tried one of those contraptions you place your laptop in to keep it cool yet.

i have placed something at the top end underneath to jack it up a little to get more air under there .

still seems to run a little hotter than i would expect.

i try and keep the underside clean and dust free the best i can..

any fixes ?

i might look for something to hoist the back end up a little higher and see if that works.

Dell or HP? Both have known problems with this. Get a ThinkPad.

have you done anything to your puter lately?if you overclocked it or something that would cause it to run hot.

if you dont know what over-clocking is then you didnt do that.only other option is your motherboard has something lose or its starting to go bad.

Well maybe I can help you here....I left my laptop in the car one night and live in Minny which that night was around 1 degree!!! And forgot to let it warm up before booting it up etc and the fan kicked on blah, blah, blah, and hasn't stopped since but computer runs fine and Dell said probably will run fine so don't worry about the fan....but sure is loud now!!

Gateway puts Intel processors designed for Desktop PC's into their "Notebooks" to make them cheaper. These processors run much hotter and with the inherent poor "design" and cheap components from Gateway you are stuck.

As I mentioned before get a ThinkPad.

I'll look into that.. i was considering giving this laptop to my daughter. she is getting to the age of needing a computer . it wouldnt be on as much if she had it. just in the morning and at night for a while.

Laptops often run hot. Some brands are better than others. I know that HP's get so hot they will shut themselves off. Some one mentioned that IBM think pads do not get very hot. Go ahead and demo one for an hour or so and see how it performs.

Besides that, if you are using your laptop at your house/office, you could build a make shift heat sink to sit it on. Put some fans on that and you should keep the temp under contol. Your laptop will run faster and live longer if you keep it cool.
