I'm not sure why everyone is so surprised by the Birds' fast start....????

Granted, their pitching is definitely suspect, BUT their lineup is STACKED!!!

The lineup is loaded...Tejada may be the best RBI man in baseball arguable...Melvin Mora is a poor mans Tejada!

Roberts has emerged as a great leadoff guy who's in the midst (even though its still early) of a career year ...

In the end it will come down to how well they pitch , Bedard and Lopez both could be aces...the pitching is decent now.

Most important factor though is the NYY and BOS both have serious pitching issues as well....atleast its interesting again in Birdland....With that offense , they should be able to hang close enogh to make a run for the wild card , at the very least.

Sosa has been very average and Raffy is bordering on done...yet Baltimore is still scoring a ton of runs..the top of the order can't keep that pace up!

It's interesting to see that the Orioles have sprinted out in front in the early going

But last year we had Texas doing that and the Royals in their division

Last year, the Red Sox were killing everyone at the end of April and then set an MLB record for a worst start in may (thanks Nomar :finger: )

It's the first month of the season.

Means very little unless you are more than 6 games back.

Don't jinx it Journey. The suprising guys to me have been Bruce Chen and Todd Williams. I'll take the Orioles 1-3 hitters over any other teams so far this year.

"What's up in the AL East?"

The O's opposing pitcher's ERA!..they like St.L, Bost, and NYY have bottom of the orders that can hit like most team's top.

TB has some nice players like Crawford, Kazmir, Hall, Gonzalez to build on.

I have liked Melvin Mora since he was a utility guy with the Mets...he really is a damn good ballplayer, and a gamer....Tejada is off the charts! Tejada is one free agent who has not sat on his laurels, you can tell Miguel wants to win and plays hard on every play...

I will never be a diehard O's fan again or until baseball makes the game fair for all teams, this is nice to see though...a baseball game that means something again in Birdland.:103631605

The only reason the O'S upgraded their team was because of ticket competition. The Nationals moved in and they realized they needed to actually have a decent team. Long gone are the days of the baseball monopoly in maryland. Now the O's have to have more then one good player to expect the fans to show up.

I think the Nationals move was great for baseball.

How is it a monopoly anyway...Maryland is one state with one team?

ONLY REAL ADDITION WAS SOSA....THE ATTENDANCE HAS BEEN ON SERIOUS DECLINE FOR 5 YEARS,,,THE SUCCESS (IN APRIL) HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WASHINGTON HAVING A TEAM....

I DO LIKE WASHINGTON HAVING A TEAM, PERSONALLY.

Too Late LOL

Come on guys....you know this new interleague scheduling and play your divsion opponets 20 times......MAKES the strongest divsion, one where 500 ball is like playing 750 anywhere else, and speaking for Boston........They are still in Spring Training....building some depth, and gaining Pitchers experience

and the Yanks.......they are the definition of over rated. And I am not saying that as an anti Yankee fan....just making an assessment. Redsox are slightly over rated as well.

"O" does that Star Spangled Banner Yet Wave

Things getting exciting in Charm City.......with those bewoved Oeooooo's

The O's are TOUGH!!

Again, as a diehard Bosox fan, much more concerned with them than the AROD cursed Yankees.
