i make one every day for the contest - but i don't play my picks for i have radily admitted in the past i am not the best MLB capper here and it's not even close
BUT
Monday - put me on a game BIG TIME
Dodgers -115
Dodgers are tough at home - and he Expos/Nationals are so-so at best on the road
But now let's look at things this way
Nats played the ESPN MLB game sunday night. game ends about 8:30P (PDT which is what all times will be since they are flying out to CA). i don't see ANY WAY the Nats get to the airport BEFORE 10P and take off before 10:30P. it is roughly a 6-hour flight from DC to LAX so now the Nats get into LAX about 4:30A MONDAY morning. Yes - they can sleep on the plane - but has ANYONE out there ever tried sleeping on a plane - NO WAY you can!
so now the Nats get into LAX about 4:30A and by the time they get to a bus and to the hotel it is about 5:30A and before they can get to their hotel beds it is close to 6A.
lets give them even 6 hours sleep and now we are at Noon.
they then get something to eat and maybe relax some then head to the park for the game which starts @ 7:10P (which is 10:10P in the time zone they are used to).
i don't see ANY WAY the Nats have any gas in the tank for this game. i know Loaiza had to have flown out here Sunday morning so he would get some rest - but so what. he is only 1 guy and if you look at his numbers in April and then every other month but April it is not pretty - save his fluke year a few years ago
and while Scott Erickson will never be confused for Cy Young - he has put up decent numbers in his 2 home starts
In a contest between a rested team that is 8-3 at home against a tired and exhausted 6-6 road team i will take the home team and what is almost a "Pick 'em" price
Dodgers -115 is a VERY STRONG play for me
