I think High Limit's got a shot, but Pletcher & Zito's barns look to be a little more loaded this year

And so it goes......

This could be Frankel's year
<HR style="COLOR: rgb(204,204,153)" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->I think this could be the year Bobby gets his Derby w/ High Limit. The more I think about it the more I am convinced that the Bluegrass was a testing ground on getting that colt to rate under race conditions. Now with ample time to perfect that strategy in training leading up to the Derby, High Limit should have more than enough left in the tank to put in a great stretch run and use his speed to the wire. It was only his second start of a layoff and the Bluegrass was much strongert than the cast he faced in Louisiana. And still he ran a nice race. Frankel, imo, is looking at the big picture. Let's face it, nobody is going to let Bellamy Road get away w/anything easy on the lead. Frankel is very crafty and this horse is certainly flying under the radar w/ all the talk surrounding Zito's boys. I'm really starting to like High Limit. I also hope Greeley Galaxy gets in too. I'd love to hit an exacta w/these too.

High Limit's win in the Louisiana Derby was very impressive, particularly since he was brought to the race off of works only, as his last race prior was last year if I remember correctly. That being said, in the Bluegrass Stakes a rabbit was used to compromise his chances to steal the race on the front end and it set up perfectly for Bandini. High Limit did finish out decently and held for a distance second. He now will be faced most likely with another rabbit plus Bellamy Road on the front end as well. Frankel is aware of this and has been trying to school High Limit to rate. Whether he will be able to is open to debate. He is still a very young and developing colt who has jumped the tracks of the starting gate in the stretch in his last two races. That won't be an issue here as the tracks of the gate will not be left in the running zone in the Derby, as the race is a mile and a quarter run on a mile track. Lots of if's here with High Limit. Anything is possible as he has good breeding but the pace of the race and his inexperience to rate are a lot to overcome. He may be good enough to get a piece of the race however.
