I like to play for what I call "my nervous price" (around 2k) not always possible. In other words a big enough bet that I get nervous when sweating it out.

I think the reference was in regards to wagers made between people, and the size of wager being that which made the opponent nervous.

This is a typical way to hustle golf, simply get the bet size large enough to make the opponent nervous...and thereby, play worse than they think they are capable.

No doubt a good sized bet can make a 4 foot putt look a lot longer. I have always liked to gamble on the golf course and for some reason play better when the stakes are higher, perhaps a result of betting on sports and horses for so long. I recall playing often with a guy who was without a doubt a better player than me but when the money was on the line he had a tendency to pull his shots (especially putts). Definite case of money game nerves, and it affected his game for the worse.

thats true. always seems like stress can push you too far over what makes you good....
