I've been on Mozilla Firefox for several months now and like it. I had to make some slight adjustment to the McAfee Virus Scanner to get the DAT updates, as it was originally bought when I was using Internet Explorer. The updates worked well with Mozilla Firefox!!
Now today--my subscription to McAfee's DAT updates expired. I follow the ownscreen instructions to pay for another year's subscription. When I get to the order and download page it says to me that I MUST use Internet Explorer to update. What the heck is this all about? Have they stopped working with Mozilla Firefox.
Has McAfee made some deal with IE to not allow other browsers. I can't find the answer in their help section and they want $2.95 per minute to get help from McAfee.

Just use IE to update. Save yourself all the problems and do what they tell you. I doubt it said you MUST use IE but who cares. You always have IE on your comp so just load it up once and use it to subscribe.

On a side note, in ordering a dell PC recently, I discovered that McAfee is the default virus protection over Nortin. I found that surprising.

Thanks Coconut Man. I'll try that--I just wanted to be TOTALLY done with Internet Explorer. Mozilla Firefox is 1000% better as far as I'm concerned. No messed up pages on Yahoo etc--like with IE.

General--My HP computer came with McAfee install 5 years ago. I think when all is said and done there's probably 6 in one and half dozen in the other. My experience has been that it's best to stay with one . They are both corporate America--but it ticks me off how they cater to Internet Explorer--with it's KNOWN problems. Even a rep from from SpySweeper told me IE has the problems.

Whoson i totally agree with you on staying with Mozzila. IE has nothing to offer while you can do anything and everything with Mozzila.
