Natrually it depends on the price. Looks like they are heading for showdowns with the Heat (toss-up IMO) and very possibly the Spurs another toss-up. They can win but it won't be easy, wasn't really impressed by play vs. mediocre Philly squad.

As Kid says above and most of us here know, defense does win chamipionships....

HOWEVER.......I fell this year is an exception........

Despite their defense, I still don't think Detroit can put up enough points to knock off Miami in the East or Phoenix if they faced them in the Championship.......

Detroit would match up well against San Antonio if they could get past Miami....

Shawn:

I strongly considered betting the Pistons at 5-1 just before the playoffs started as I reasoned that the only two teams that could possibly beat them was Miami and San Antonio as I don't believe Phoenix plays defense well enough to win a title. Plus, at that time, Shaq and Duncan were just returning from ending the regular season dinged up. That being said, two things I have noticed that is different from last year's champion. First, their bench depth, particularly defensively, is not anywhere near as strong as last year and thus, second, overall their team defense is not as stout as last year. It showed in the Philadelphia series and during the regular season as well. Last year, the Pistons could absolutely shut a team down completely. Not so with this team. Expect them to meet Miami in the Eastern Conference Finals and have their hands full with a very underated Heat team that plays very well together and help out well defensively.

I think the winner of the East Conference wins it again... Miami vs Detroit is going to be a war we will not soon forget...tremendous series on the horizon.

OBTW- Indiana is next for the Pistons.:suomi:

Just a guess at this point as both still need to play the next round. But I'll throw out a possible price, although I'm sure others can do better. I'll use a wide line and say:

Miami -120
Detroit +110

I do not think that Detroit has what it takes to win back to back titles. They will play Miami in the Eastern Final and will have their hands full. I think Miami's bench will be the difference in that series and Miami will win it in 7. Even if Detroit did advance to the Finals, they will be beat by the Spurs. Just my 2 cents.

naw. they shouldnt have won it to begin with. if the lakers didnt luck out and Spur their way past San Antonio on Fisher's wish hoop, then SA would probably be champs right now

miami's bench ? you mean christian laetnar and alonzo mourning? or maybe you mean keyon DOOLING ?

detroit handled shaq and kobe and a better supporting cast last year with no problem... Miami will not come out of the east

Exactly! I was on the Pistons that day and was very impressed with the Heat, particularly with the defense that the Shaqless Heat showed. Believe that may ultimately be the difference between these two teams.

I think they have a good shot, in my mind they have a better team than last year, whether they win or not is another story

Of course Detroit could win but the value is on San Antonio - they have two rings already - this is the best team they ever had - their bench is insane - for ex.. Devin Brown who has a DNP besides every playoff game could start for most teams - and no one from the west can beat them period - Detroit could beat them but first they have to beat Miami and then beat SA with SA having home court - Duncan gets his third ring.
