Shawn:
I strongly considered betting the Pistons at 5-1 just before the playoffs started as I reasoned that the only two teams that could possibly beat them was Miami and San Antonio as I don't believe Phoenix plays defense well enough to win a title. Plus, at that time, Shaq and Duncan were just returning from ending the regular season dinged up. That being said, two things I have noticed that is different from last year's champion. First, their bench depth, particularly defensively, is not anywhere near as strong as last year and thus, second, overall their team defense is not as stout as last year. It showed in the Philadelphia series and during the regular season as well. Last year, the Pistons could absolutely shut a team down completely. Not so with this team. Expect them to meet Miami in the Eastern Conference Finals and have their hands full with a very underated Heat team that plays very well together and help out well defensively.
