even when you win, you feel bad for one of the other guys around here who was on the opposite side.

tonight for example, i needed the wizards. i got 'em.

but shawn gotti lost out on a very nice parlay because the bulls didnt come through.:sad3:

anyone else ever feel this way?

I don't like when people come in threads about bad beats and gloat after winning, the Oakland total today was an awful bad beat, meanwhile Slim who probably didn't have nickel on it, seemed happy it happened...not cool ...

Of course none of us win anyway according to Slim :drink:

I only feel bad if the ending is screwed up or if one side gets blatantly screwed or lucky. So I feel bad after about 90% of all NBA games

As far as the other posters, there are enough people here who put up 'gloat posts' when they win, if I am opposite of them, it is just a minor bonus

Yeah I feel that way sometimes

a few years back during the owens sharpie game (this is when I took capping a lot more seriously than now)

I was at a different forum where all the titles to everything including the replys stay on the main page

He posted in a monitoring thread 10* Seattle -4 GAME OF THE YEAR

and I was hot and I liked the niners, but when I saw the GOY, I did it also: 10* Game Of the Year S.F. 49'ers +4

and of course the Niners won outright as you may recall.

But it was a guy I really respected and I felt like a heel at the time, becuase I learned a lot of what I know today from this particular poster on capping methods

I realy felt bad about doing that. He stopped posting as much afterwards to boot.

I am always cognizant of the fact that others will be on the opposite side, that's why I try my best to remain silent, win or lose. I have even greater difficulty when releasing a selection that loses and am aware of the number of members, posters and viewers who may have chosen to follow my play. Should my selection win, I feel more relief then joy as no one has lost that may have followed.

The situation is inevitable as Coach Knight would say, so lie back and make the best.

Bookmakers want our money and we want theirs. Bottom line. It's a friendly type of chess, or should be. The name of the game is "get the money".

Nothing wrong with good natured ribbing at all...coming into an all-time bad beat thread and gloating isn't cool.:finger:

General:

Have to disagree with you regarding the relationship between the player and the bookmaker. It has been sometime since I have stated my position on this part of the business. As far as I am concerned, the bookmaker is my enemy. This in no way is meant to be a slight at Slim or Dime as I appreciate their contributions to these forums and as individuals. But, the truth is, the relationship is a battle and the bookmakers wouldn't hesitate to break me if given a chance and never look back. My approach is the same. The more they cut me off, the better I'm doing in the battle. Now, that being said, the many people that work for the bookmakers are not the target and even the bookmakers themselves can be good people, but the battle must be recognized for what it is. Realize that you have to deal with these same individuals on a variety of matters and no doubt have a different perspective, but having seen so many be broken, I never let myself forget the real reason I am in this business and that is to take money from the bookmakers.

I think any gloating is overkill.

Same with NFL touchdown dances. Except Billy 'white shoes' Johnson, he was cool

J-man,

I think Slim is very consistent in that he always roots for the team which is better for his employer. I don't see any more than that and see no reason to take offense.

Hard luck on Tex/Oak, though. Genuine bad beat there...bummer.
