Your Fave Memory/Story about your mother

Roxy asked about her influence on y'all, but what is the ONE incident/memory/story about her that stands out

I'll start things out - for me an incident we STILL talk about

Mom is a redhead. I take that back - BORN a redhead but as she got older - the red turned to gray at an early age. However Mom goes to get her hair colored every so often - and has for 20+ years

ONE TIME, though, something went terribly wrong and instead of coming home with Red Hair she came home with PINK hair. For those who have seen the "Outback Steakhouse" ad where the woman tried dying her hair and it turns pink - BINGO!

well, in our family - NOTHING is sacred. if you do something to make us laugh and ridicule you - we will - because we love each other - and to NOT ridicule you is not a good thing

When we all got to see Mom, we were howling with laughter for a good 15+ minutes - even Dad - who i sense slept on the couch for some time after that

We couldn't leave well enough alone so we kep asking her when she was going to run away and join a Punk Rock band. We asked her if she wanted "Sex Pistols" tix for Xmas. We also told her she needed to get her nostrils pierced as well as get paper clips in her ears. We also told her we knew someone who could tattoo a "Swastika" on her body for cheap - all while still laughing as hard as humanly possible - playing up the Punk Rock aspect as much as possible

Mom is a great sport and she laughed about this all, too - however withing about 48 hours her hair was back to Red and my guess is the woman who colored it the first time got an earful from Mom.

Of all of the stories about my Mom - this is the one that stands out for me

my mother took me to the racetrack when i was 12,ruined my life,why could'nt she take me bowling or something else? :biglaugh:

OK - how do I address this one. We have exchanged some e-mails but then again she has probably done that with more than just me on this site. She says she lives in San Diego and if correct - that is about a 90-100 mile distance between us and as anyone who lives in So Cal can attest to - people seemingly live in their cars because they drive so much and people are more than willing to drive 2 hours just to spit in the ocean - then drive back and the drive to-from SD is a rather nice one - scenery wise. I am going to the bash on Friday with one of my best friends who also showed up last year and is a sometimes poster here. Roxy has posted here she might show up on Saturday - and if so - maybe with some friends so if she shows up we could say "hello" in person - if she so desires. The one thing I really like about Roxy - and for that matter all women in general - is one who is intelligent and speaks her mind - 2 qualities I like in people overall - but especially women. I like people who can challenge my mind for it helps keep me sharp and an intelligent conversation is very stimulating and entertaining. A woman will win over my eyes based solely on what she is like on the outside but the ONLY way she will ever win over my heart is based SOLELY on what she is like on the INSIDE because i know "X" years down the line when looks fade somewhat - if the relationship isn't built on something concrete - the relationship will fail and the 2 parties will go their separate ways (and this goes for ALL "relationships" - be they business, personal, whatever)! I would love to meet up with Roxy any time she would like - but that is NOT my call - it is hers and in private e-mails between us the one thing i have hammered home numerous times is that SHE MUST feel comfy with all aspects of ANY situation - and if she is NOT - then avoid that awkward situation. at the end of the day we ALL must be able to look in the mirror and like what we see - and i am not talking about appearance - but rather what we think of ourselves. i know it took me a LONG time to feel good about myself (Shrink knows something about this - and I know you will keep what we talked about private because you also said some things to me you wanted kept between us - and i intend to honor that request as long as my request is honored, too) and now that i do i can look in the mirror and like what i see and when that happens we all feel better about ourselves and our outlook on things is much better. My policy on dating is really simple - it is ONE day/night of my life - just one and as many nights as I (we) all spend "F-ing around" doing nothing - going on a date isn't the worst way to spend that day/night. The worst that can happen is we realize we are better off not having each other in our lives while the best thing is this is the last woman I will ever date (whoever that woman may be). As long as she can see her toes and she has less "chins" than a Chinese Phone Directory I'm all for it. My guess is what I REALLY know about Roxy (and Vice Versa) could find on the head of a pin and roll around like a "BB in a Boxcar" so while all you say is flattering - to me - the reality of it all is MUCH different than fantasy - and for this site - what we know about each other is fantasy - and not much else.

What little I DO know about Roxy is that she is cringing upon reading all this and what General had to say - although I sense she is not mad at you. Roxy has stated she HATES being the topic of discussions here so all this is really not something she will probably like reading.

thats a whole lot you just said. i have no problems really winky. its unnerving to see your a topic but it doesnt send me to the basement.lol.the general must be chuck woolery and now hes a mod since the love connection went off the air.lol. hey general the wnba has begun!

arty: as for going to vegas together i cant commit to the bash this far out but i plan to be there with 3 other gfs. winky you know alot about me i hide nothing. im very cautious but i have to be. my limited free time is spent downtown dancing with friends.getting out. boy you said an awfull lot here.lol. im not cringing and im cool so theres no problems.i need a drink.:drink:
