Welcome to the RX!

In an EXACTA you must pick the EXACT 1-2 finish of the race.

In a TRIFECTA, the EXACT 1-2-3 finishing order of the race.

an exacta is where you bet what you think the first 2 finishers will be,betting the trifecta, you need to pick the first 3 finishers, you can bet a horse to win only, which means he must win,you can bet a horse to place which means he has to finish first or second for you to win,and you can bet to show meaning your horse must finish first second or third for you to win

Jesse: The best advice of all is to avoid horses entirely ! Few suceed with it, even less than with sports. If you just learned what a trifecta is, you are not ready.

If you must get into it, play for awhile ( 30-60 days) with bets on paper only or very small if real money. Determine if you think you have an edge, I doubt you do.

Go to an OTB parlor and look at the people there. They will be old men with shabby clothes that have been betting horses for decades.

start slow, you may get lucky at first.

that's why you should bet on-line, collect your rebate from pinny, get free video from youbet and watch the races on TVG while you are posting on the RX

Doesn't mean you beat the game, but a better chance. The guy would better spend his time learning on-line poker, IMO.

welcome jesse - I like exacta box - pick 1-2 in any order

I know nothing , but start learning

Trainers
Farms
Pedigree
jockeys - not as important as previous 3
previous races and strength of competion

Man I went to one race in Keeneland, the only race I have ever been to, and it got in my blood - Giddy UP

Good Luck

I agree with yall when it comes to making money, but poker doesn't give a 2 minute thrill ride second to none like the ponies do :suomi:

Each hand of limit hold'em is 100x more thrilling to me than a horse race.

But to each his own and I understand and respect that.
