May. 5 - Junior in the Bronx? A New York-area newspaper reported a possible trade to the Yankees, the Dayton Daily News reports. As a 10-and-5 guy, Ken Griffey can shoot down any trade.
"They (Yankees) haven't asked me about it – that would be tampering – and they haven't asked my agent," said Griffey, who has three years and $38 million remaining on his contract after this season.
May. 5 - The Nationals continue to seek a trade for Rockies center fielder Preston Wilson, but they want the Rockies to pick up virtually his entire $12.5 million salary, USA Today reports.
Wilson was the subject of trade rumors all winter and reportedly was close to being sent to both the Mets and the Padres. But his balky knee and big salary kept most bidders at bay.

According to the New York Daily News, the Mets are looking to upgrade their bullpen by acquiring a late-inning reliever, such as the Tigers' Ugueth Urbina or the Devil Rays' Danys Baez. Such an acquisition might eventually put Braden Looper's status as the closer in doubt.
