There are some great threads in this forum but I've noticed there may be a number of members that may not understand horse racing and would like to place a bet on the Derby today but don't know how or what it all means. So I thought I'd open up a thread to allow anyone interested to please feel free to fire away and I will try and answer any questions I can. I will continue to check back as the race is scheduled for post time at 6:04 p.m. EST. Anyone else that wishes to assist, please feel free to do so. Sorry, I should have thought of this sooner.

Wouldn't we all. Check out the Derby Thread started by Judge Wapner and you can see many opinions, including a detailed race description provided by both the Judge and myself. Strikingly similiar but with a different winner.

Why does espn always take opportunities to briefly show us pretty girls in the crowd, but only shows us 3 secs of material at a time?

That would be great. I was messing around and threw $10 on the two favs to show. It must pay out a percentage of the take I assume. Would be very helpful.

Thanks, FW

Fair Warning:

The payoffs for the horses to show will be based on the money bet to show on the first three finishing horses. Since you bet both the top two choices to show, your better price payout will be the one with the least amount bet in the show pool, most likely the second choice of the two, and hope that two longshots come in the top three positions along with one of your horses.

The current odds are 4-1. Don't expect much change up or down before race time as a lot of money has been bet across the nation already.

Now you lost me. This was a little fun money from the Wizards series.

In the Derby, there is always a good chance for a long shot. Although I don't have it handicapped that a really large longshot will win today, that doesn't mean a thing. Anything is possible in this race.
