A poster brought this up and I would like to hear some feedback from registered posters. The mods & BoardRoom members have discussed, but I want to hear from the entire posting body if you would be so kind.

Thanks

I seldomly read the thread. As a business owner, I would not allow others to talk on my dime.

Keeps the clutter out of the sports forums. If someone is looking for a service, they are all together for them.

pros would be they limit the touts and those sorts to one area, instead of having them try to get customers in the sports forums...also, for posters like Sherman, they can promote their honest business'...

a big con would be that just having that area attracts touts and scammers in general, and some feel like they can lead posters towards the site promo room in hopes of recruiting them

If we didn't have the room, it would be No trouble keeping touts out of the sports rooms FWIW.

Let me ask, if you started a site tomorrow like this, would you add a Site Promo room?

I would. I dont think it hurts to have it at all. I would probably add the disclaimer that you have on the "main forum page" to the top of the "site promotion page".

General:

Have never seen a lot of value in the Site Promotions forum as it appears to be primarily used to self promote. I suppose there was some reason why that forum was originally created and perhaps those that were here at the time can shed some light on the reasoning. Personally, I suspect I am like most members, posters and viewers here that rarely have spent any time in that forum. If I were to start a site tomorrow, I would not include a Site Promotions forum.

I probably wouldn't add it, but if it became a probem then I would consider it for the reason given above (the "garbage can" theory).

The Rubber Room is for garbage posts. Touts posts could be removed for good and repeat offenders put on Post Review or suspended.

People like casinoman should either not be given an avenue to tout or be permanently tossed from this site. If rx were my business he would not be allowed to post.

I agree with Mr. Leisure.

Also, I hate it when a tout uses his web address for his handle name. This shouldn't be allowed, even if they are giving out "free (losing) picks."

pete you know how i feel about this subject

what positives come from the site promotion area. 0

what negatives come from the site promotions. god if we only knew the stories of people being desperate for a sure winner and they give money to these clowns, next thing you know they dug themselves a hole they cannot get out of

also having other members of this forum promoting their NEW Sports forum does not help this site one bit

to have a scammer like CASINOMAN posting have 99 percent winners.

brings the forum down a notch ....fwiw

i am not sure but i have never seen the rodfather promote his business there
