Former NBA player Ralph Sampson was arrested Friday in Atlanta on two felony counts of failing to pay court-ordered child support, U.S. Attorney Paul J. McNulty said. Sampson, 44, faces a maximum possible sentence of two years in prison and a fine of $250,000 on each charge if convicted. A federal grand jury in Virginia indicted Sampson on May 4.

sad to say the least.I make nothing compared with ex pro athletes and if left my wife i wouldn't need a judge to tell me i had to pay support for the raising of my children. It would just be a given. could never understand how a father could do that to their child.then again there is alot in this world i don't get...:icon_conf

many variables in these situations...Sampson's probably forked over a load of cash over the years....The father usually gets screwed and in cases where the father is really wealthy the suppport is usually absurd...

anyone know how much he owes?

your right jman it does happen that way.Mom winds up driving a nice mercedes on the kids money.I just feel bad for the everyday shmoes who let their kids suffer. My wifes ex brother in law is requred to pay $45 a week (and thats on long island ny where the cost of living is out the window) and works off the book to dodge it.pitiful...i guess that is the other end of the spectrum but can see your points as well as i am sure there is abuse on the mother's side in some of these high $ cases.

he pays every now and then but because he shows no income(even though he does construction for at least 600 a week off the books) they only set it at this joke amount.2 pair of shoes at walmart uses it all up.it's pretty sad.

I guess when you're 7'4" it would be tough to say, "it wasn't me, it was just someone who looks like me."
