* Who said old rock stars die out, May 17 the Pussycat
Doll Lounge at Pure Nightclub will hold the premier
tasting of Vince Vineyards, Vince Neil's brand new
private label wine from Napa Valley. Vince Neil,
musician for Motley Crue also made news this week
by announcing a motorcycle style cafe, as part of
the $1 billion Hard Rock Casino expansion.
* Caesars Nero's restaurant will undergo a general
overall remodeling. The restaurant is expected to
be closed for three months.
* Miami fans who have experienced the Fontainebleau
will soon have a Fontainebleau in Las Vegas. Estimated
to open in 2008, plans this week have been released
about a new $1.5 billion, 4,000 room casino/hotel to
open on the Turnberry property facing the Las Vegas
Strip. The same owners for the Miami property will
own the Las Vegas property.
* Only in Las Vegas do you have expansion before you
open the doors. South Coast casino, the new casino
at the south end of the Las Vegas Strip will build an
additional 700 rooms to be ready hopefully for their
2006 opening. The project will now cost $600 million
and have a total of 1,350 rooms.
* Grand Opening Ceremony Friday, May 20, will officially
open the 60,000 sq. ft., $39 million expansion of the Rio
Pavilion Convention Center. The expansion brings the
total amount of meeting space at the Rio to 160,000
square feet, making it the eighth largest hotel meeting
space in the country.
* Announced this week are the plans for the new exhibit
at the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art. Scheduled to start
June 10 and end on January 8, 2006, the new display
will feature 34 paintings from 16 artists. Artists included
in the exhibition are Eugene Boudin, Paul Cezanne,
Paul Gaughin, Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir,
and Theodore Rousseau.
* Splash at the Riviera Casino is revamping its current
production and launching an all new version of the
show with a soft open set for May 31. The new show
will coincide with the 20th anniversary of Splash and
will celebrate 100 years of Las Vegas with all new
production numbers!
* The new Wynn Casino has already had some shaking
out of their new management. This time it is the head
of nightclubs, Frank Tucker. Tucker came from 4.5
years as the general manager of Rumjungle Nightclub
at the Mandalay Bay Casino.
