A quick story on Wells. In Spring Training a few years back he was pitching and he was winning by 1 run. Well some career minor leaguer Dominican guy that spoke a little english comes up and leads off the inning with a bunt single that he had to field. That run ended up winning the game. The next day in BP Wells goes up to that guy and says "What the hell is the matter with you bunting like that." The guy said "Sorry I want to win game." Wells said "No I don't care about the game, but you know I don't like running!"
Pretty classic David Wells. He does the bare minimum for conditioing, OBVIOUSLY.

on behalf of the city of san diego and the padre nation we greatly appreciate you signing david wells.he was loved his 1 year here and lives not far from me in ocean beach but dude was always clubbing here.the fans were pissed that gm kevin towers dragged his feet on wells and boston offered him mad money so he took it.i enjoyed your world championship run last year. i hope the memorys last cuz this could be a painfull year.~RG
thats true. as a casual observer to baseball in general it seems the dominant teams from the past couple years are being passed by the whitesox and the twins have huge expectations.the A.L. east looks even.its early still and lots of games to be played.im a west coast red sox fan ONLY because of larry lucchino.he did so much for the padres i cant help but be a fan of his.sherman said:
